We are consolidating a few vehicles into a JLUR. New or used with low miles, doesn't matter to me. It seems like every single dealership that has a good price listed (even when you read the fine print) hits you with an extra $3k-$5k of BS (electronic filing fee, wheel locks, nitrogen, mandatory gap insurance, you name it).
Who has the hookup with a good, no nonsense jeep dealership?

The last car we bought, ended up coming from Carvana, they were $1k over every other listed price, but beat the out the door price of every shop we went to.

Any dealership that I can drive to in a day is up for discussion (say, 500 miles from Raleigh).

When I was looking for my Gladiator earlier this year, I had dealers that wouldn’t discuss price without coming in for a test drive. That’s a no-go for me.
Steve White Motors in Hickory is where I ended up buying from (new 2025 Gladiator Rubicon in 2026). They didn’t have all those hidden fees, we negotiated a price over text message so everything was in writing. I then gave them a $500 refundable deposit over the phone to hold it until I arrived later that day. Once I got there, there was no trying to upsell me or bait and switch.

It was honestly the easiest and most pleasant car buying experience I’ve ever had.

And while I was signing papers, my wife was walking around the dealership and found a nice Jeep hat and got them to throw it in free!

Also, I think Steve White will deliver.

I hate that bullshit about not talking price on the phone, but I guess its like 60% won't do it on the phone or in email.
I have negotiated all the last cars I have bought online before ever going in, if they won't talk price I move on. Get a price from a few dealers (easier if new), tell the others what this dealer offered and get them to beat it. Thats really all there is to it.

Stay away from most of the dealers in major metros like Raleigh and Charlotte. If I go 45 mins from Raleigh I can normally save a lot.

Can you imagine the number of dead beats that call and IM dealers on their website everyday trying to low ball the car? Millions of idiots out there....no wonder a salesman wont talk price until he sees you are a bit serious. I bet they get 100 calls a day asking for crazy deals that have no teeth behind them.

But never pay more than a small doc fee and the registration/taxes that you have to pay regardless

The dealerships WANT those 100's of daily calls. Every site has a (give us your contact info for "today's price") link....and they are always quick to call. If you call THEM, 50% are direct to AI now.
The dealership today gave me 3 different prices within a few minutes, with a $5k difference between the highest and the lowest. Two of those prices were higher than the advertised price. This dealership also stressed it was $399 for their wheel locks that were "already installed".

As for getting numbers and playing them against each other, those days are either long gone or I am just losing my touch. I genuinely feel like half the dealers I have talked to don't even want to sell to someone who isn't standing in front of them. The number of no callbacks has been surprising.
