after 2 weeks of chasing wires and replacing a crank sensor, finally found the underlying cause for my jeep just quitting whenever it felt like it, giving random misfire fault codes (P0300) and finally a ignition coil failure code(P0351). the source of the problem was the black connector plug going from the engine into the pcm-apparantly this is a chronic problem with 90's era chrysler connector plugs going into the pcm-my fix was to zip tie the snot out of it. if you're having this sort of issue, this is a good place to go before spending crazy $$ on sensors, coils, and engine computers.
