I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has had a popping/bucking/stuttering issue for awhile and I'm just ready to get it fixed. It has the I6 4.0...I normally start my Jeep in the morning and let it warm up. If i hop in the Jeep and instantly cut the key over and try to start it without holding the key in the "on" position it will take awhile to start but if I let the key sit in the "on" position for 5 seconds or so my Jeep will start right up. It idles very rough in the mornings, almost like it has a dead miss. It will be idling fine for a few seconds and then BAM, miss! It will continue to do this. If I let the Jeep warm up for say 30 minutes it will go away and the Jeep will idle fine and drive fine.

If I try to get in the Jeep and drive it and it hasn't already ran for at least 25-30 minutes the Jeep will run like crap. While I'm driving at a steady pace the RPM's will jump up and down pretty rapidly. I'll be driving it up the road and it will be bucking and stuttering so bad that my cd player skips. If I give it a decent amount of throttle it starts popping from under the hood through the intake. It will do this until I drive it for just a few minutes and then out of nowhere it just smooths itself out and runs PERFECTLY fine! It has never stalled on me or anything I don't understand why it's doing this? It has brand new plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor button and coolant temp sensor. What could be causing this and what direction should I go to fix this? I don't really want to throw a bunch of parts at it. Thanks for the help!

No check engine light or codes..thinking about trying to clean the IAC tomorrow since I have the day off.

Pull your tb and clean all sensors wires going into it, Check your fuel filter my zj was doing the same thing and changed filters and it fixed the stall on cold start could also be your fuel pump or relay!? hope this helps there are alot of lil things that can cause this on 4.0 id get it hooked up on computer and figure it out sooner than later could also be timing... etc, etc, etc!
