Found this while scanning the internet tonight. Pretty wild. Very little info besides the driver of the jeep walked away with a broken wrist and scrapes. I assume loss of control with all the mud and damp road.

Dayuum.

Only usable thing left was the grill and that guy stood on it!!
Headlights were still working too, so the battery's also good!

aren't you supposed kill the battery power before you begin extraction???? just noticed that
From what I've been told, that's usually to prevent the airbags from deploying, which is a non issue here, they're already out. Still probably not a bad idea though.

that and if the rescue equipment operator cuts any live wires the arc may ignite any fuel/fumes so, pinned in = suck........pinned in a vehicle on fire = epic suck!!!

oh and the guy in the jeep was scared b/c the guy on the hood had a gun!!

Are you sure that you didnt read the article wrong? It'd make more sense if they said'' The only thing found of the driver was his wrist''

Cutting the battery is done if possible, but with some cars it cant be done due to battery location, and in a wreck such as this it might be more of a problem to get to than it is worth. I have done a lot of extrications with the battery still hooked up, never had any wires arc. Seen pics and vids of airbags blowing during extrication, but it is few and far between. We actually have a steering wheel cover for undeployed airbags, but now there are freaking airbags everywhere!
