Jeep Junkie Magazine

What was done in the past is done. I know Stephan personally and he's a straight forward shooter. Things change some for the better some for the worst and it's obvious you can't please everyone. Give the guy a chance

OK, let me back up and start over with a simple question. For those who still have paid subscriptions of FSJ Magazine and have not seen an issue since March (which had a baby Jeep on the cover): When will the next issue be coming out?

Yes, we will see...

Thanks for the feedback Stephen. Please be aware that many of us FSJers who supported FSJ Magazine are very skeptical because we have been lied to by other people involved in the FSJ/Jeep Junkie Magazine transition. When did or do you start working for Jeep Junkie magazine?

We are also skeptical because of the big goof where the same article was published in Bronco Driver Mag as FSJ Mag and just changed from Bronco to Cherokee to fit the magazine. That was a serious snafu on somebody's part.

We are also very concerned that some of our web based pictures and some stories of FSJ experiences were also put in the magazine with NO CONSENT.

Now for my second question: Are those who have paid subscriptions going to get equivilant number of issues they paid for when they subscribed to FSJ Magazine since there has not been an issue since March 2006?

Thanks Josh!

As far as the new mag coming out I would say either Dec or Jan based on print time.

Hey Juice, did you ever see that Family Guy episode where the tobacco company wanted to hire a lovable dumb--- as their new president and spokeperson to restore their image or be their scapegoat, but he had to be REALLY dumb so he wouldn't know what he was getting into? Figure it out. You should have looked at the company you'd be working for before you took the job. The entire FSJ community got burned by this mag, and those who still have ACTIVE SUBSCIPTIONS without the magazines delivered are still getting burned, month after month. They may have hired you to "put a new face" on the mag and "relaunch" it, but as long as the same people (i.e. Magazine Publishers Inc. or whatever they call themselves) are reaping the benifits, you can bet that those who were burned are going to keep fighting those same people. I still think fulsizjeeps aught to take legal action about theft of intellectual property over those pictures. That wasn't just wrong or in poor taste, it's down right illegal! Fortunately for your employer he's a "live and let live, karma will get 'em" kinda guy. He's the kind of guy that it's easy to be friends with, and therefore, has a lot of friends, friends that stand by him when he get's ROBBED by people like your boss. Those are your bedfellows now, just so you know what kind of company you keep. Good luck with the rag, I'll flip through it on the stands, but let the earth swallow me whole before I pay a penny for a copy.

ON a side note, I really like this forum and the people on it! I've been all over SC, GA, TN, FL, and VA with the Navy, but somehow, I've never made it to NC, I'm gonna have to plan a trip!

Well, being a NC boy I feel the need to put in my .02 worth. There are three things basically that chap my ***.
1. I was solicited to resubscribe for Full Size Jeep magazine, with the promise of more content, more frequent issues, bigger and better. I sent my $$ in to resubscribe.
2. There was no intention by the magazine to fulfill these promises, as time has shown me. I haven't gotten any issues (none published) for almost HALF the subscription term. Making the TWO isssues I have gotten $9.00 each.
3. There has been NOTHING official sent to subscribers about ANY of this; about extending subscriptions to cover the time without issues, or if the subscription would be by calendar or issues sent.

So, for me Jeep Junkie and Juice are fraud artists and have robbed me. LIARS AND CHEATS is a friendly salutation, I'd like to see him get his. I will not subscribe again; and I hope the magazine fails in a big way.:fuck-you:

You guys that got screwed I feel your pain. I have a solution that would benefit all you guys. Get together and figure out how many actually got screwed. Get a list and take it to an Lawyer and let him know what is going on. You can then take this FSJ or there new company to court an have the judge issue refunds or partial refunds. It would be very simple.

Sure each of you would get only a small amount back. maybe 10-20 bucks and court cost. BUT, and it is a big one.

This company has said they have over 10,000 subscribers. Thank would be a pretty penny for them to have to give back. It would pretty much put them out of business and allow each of you to get your money back.

my .02 cents.

Bob... I was basically in the same boat you are in right now ON ALL ACCOUNTS about 6 months ago.
I sent a certified letter (because that is what they told me I HAD to do via email) stating that I wanted to formally cancel my subscription and in lieu of the two issues I was owed... send me 2 back issues. I got the back issues and haven't looked back.
EDIT: My letter addressed ALL my concerns with the mag including yours above. Basically a formal nasty-gram!

I here ya... This country has a mentality that if we don't get our way, sue the heck of of "them". That is not really what I am about though. To tell you the truth, I would be happy with a global apology for the transgressions towards subscribers and members of IFSJA and some answers to questions. Stephen may be a stand up guy, but the magazine has not shown that kind of track record the last year or so. Maybe he could spend a little time making up to the community for the magazine and we won't be so inclined to want to crucify him. Just a thought...

I've been a member of this board for 4 or 5 years back when it started out as a tacoma territory board and I've met alof of people from it. Some of hacks and some aren't. I met Stephan through some friends about 5 years ago and wheeled with him a few times. He is/was/and has always been straight forward in those 5 years I've known him. I wouldn't slander him forsay just b/c he stepped into a bad situation. It never fails to amuse me the people who get crappy service from somewhere and slader someone who has no idea what went on or is going on. Wether Stephan knew about the bad rap or not that is unknown to me. Do you guys bash a company by saying there service sucks b/c one person is a goof? Kinda the same scenario here except the company goofed but some people are throwing a person under the bus. People get shafted all the time. Some make it right, and some don't. Wether people resubscribe is on them. If someone can step up and say hey I'm new and can make things right then KUDOS to them.If not well then the hounds shall be released on someone other than me but b/c they come up and people just start throwing stones and them without a chance, that's kinda unfair.

OK Josh. I am trying to be civil in this whole affair. Really. Many of us are still steaming over the charbroil affect. Instead of taking up bandwidth here, I invite Stephen Caldwell aka Juice52 to come over to IFSJA forum and spend a little time. I would be glad to start a thread there where we might find out more about what is going on with the magazine and maybe get answer to some questions and concerns that have already been posted here. If the dialog goes sour over there, we moderators can shut it down. No hard feelings.

I'll second the invite.
Come help sort through the hard feelings.
Maybe you can keep some subscribers.
I do not see where you have anything to loose.
I am a SuperMod there and will grant you a fair say also.
Heck, it's only 12K members :)

keeping the invite open...

Since you asked, I think the magazine can get bent. That is just one man's opinion.
I have been known to change my mind, but so far I don't see a reason why I should.

Hey everyone, hopefully we can give you a magazine that you will enjoy with the focus still being on the FSJs but with the inclusion of other 'big' Jeeps. I have stepped back my role to Design editor and turned the main reigns over to John due to my hectic schedule. If you have any further question about the magazine content please contact John.

lol...some things never change.
We didn't really expect otherwise, did we?

Steve - I had questions that did not get answers from you, so now John is the go to guy? Maybe HE could come over to IFSJA forum and spend some time answering a few questions. Or maybe you could provide his email address so I can send him an invite. If you did not spend time avoiding my questions, I might have a better attitude about this. Thanks.

I tell ya what, folks over at IFSJA forum are starting to get emails from John now. My wife got one yesterday. Not sure there is much there to respond to. Except to say the faithful subscribers to the real FSJ Mag got screwed. Thanks for your valuable feedback Steve.

....... the focus still being on the FSJs but with the inclusion of other 'big' Jeeps.
I really don't want to be rude, but damnit, you people just don't get it! Let me see if I can put this in a simple way that you guys can understand...... THERE ARE NO OTHER BIG JEEPS. Full Size Jeeps and their military cousins ARE THE ONLY BIG JEEPS. Ever. PERIOD!
Maybe this will help:
What is a Full Size Jeep?
An "FSJ" is any vehicle produced in North America, carrying the "Jeep" nameplate, with 2 or 4drs, in 2 or 4wd, whose wheelbase does not exceed 132", nor is less than 109", and whose tread width is no more than 63" nor less than 57". This definition is known to include the following models:
Cherokee: 1974-1983
Wagoneer: 1963-1983
Grand Wagoneer: 1984-1991
Gladiator and J-series pickup: 1963-1987
M-715 Military versions and its derivatives

See? There ARE NO OTHER JEEPS that are "Big Jeeps". You can have a whole shit load of YJ, TJ, XJs and ZJs that are built up, but they will never ever qualify as A FULL SIZE JEEP. Just because they are built big DOES NOT MAKE THEM AN FSJ!!! You guys obviously are not Jeep people and have absolutely no understanding of what jeeps are. I suggest you tuck you tail between your legs and skulk home to redesign your plan and do some reading up on the product you are going to be publishing about. I'd also suggest giving refunds to all the unhappy FSJ magazine subscribers who have contacted you, of which I am one. I absolutely do not want your rag coming to my door, especially after seeing your "other big jeep" comment'. And I would like a direct and complete appology for using our pictures in previous magazines without permission. And don't give me any bullshit about the previous publisher having the releases..... nobody on ifsja.org ever gave permission for their rigs to be published. And I most certainly never gave permission for my pix to be published. We could have a nice little class action suit if I bothered to round up all the people that had their picture illegally published (oh, it'd take me about a day). It wouldn't do much for us, but it sure would suck for your magazine.
