Jeep - Low Idle?

Ive got a 98 TJ with the 2.5l with a 5 speed tranny.

anyways, lately its been getting harder and harder to start. It always does, eventually. But when it does, it idles really low. Im talking like less than 500 RPM.

It'll do this at random stops too, and I have to give it some gas to stop it from stalling out.

I just had the distributor replaced, so i doubt the starting problem is coming from that end...any other ideas as to why its doing this?

fuel?
when is the last time the fuel filter was changed?
air?

Fuel is getting low, hovering right above the gas light time. Im getting some today so we'll see if that changes it.

Fuel filter, probably since I bought it, 3 years or so ago

Air should be fine, although I really need a new airbox and I need to clean the K&N filter thats in it.

you might have just answered your own question...otherwise your fuel pump or regulator MAY be going bad. Could also be TPS, IAC.

$5 and less than 10 min

Nope...not able to do that on 97 and up TJ's.

The filter is inside the gas tank, and the Factory does not suggest regular fuel filter replacement. The filter on the 97 and up TJ's is part of the pump assembly inside the tank.

hey

my tj started doing the samething afrer i snaped t-case and blew up the speedo gear then i put new t-case and it started throwing a vss code and would die wen i stoped and when i was givin it gas it would act like i was giving it gas and letting go then giving it then letting go but only some times i still havent figured it out i think it has to do with the veichal speed sensor <vss>
