I'm changing the heater core in my Jeep this weekend since it decided to completely crap out on me this past weekend and I've been wanting to change the thermostat for awhile also and I figure why not go ahead and do it now. There's nothing wrong with the thermostat in the Jeep now I've just been wanting to change it because I have no clue the last time it was changed. It's a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2L v8.
I'm pretty positive that it has a 195* thermostat in it now because it has probably never been changed just seeing how other maintenance parts were neglected on this Jeep by previous owner(s). I was thinking about going to a 180* thermostat. Is there any real gain I'll get going from a 195* to a 180* thermostat? What will be the difference? Is it a bad idea to go from a 195 to a 180? Thank you so much for your help!
