Jeep wj cats

I have a 01 jeep wj 4.0 tell motors out rite now I was gonna gut the 2 cats on the header but didn't know if it would throw code for it or not

It will probably throw codes. Unfamiliar with the exact set up. But usually an o2 before cat and one after. You can get past this. But, it's not legal. But, doable. Don't know the specifics but Google does.

It's not legal, and we are not suppose to talk about it on here. But let's assume this is an off-road jeep only (cough cough) I have done this with my 00 XJ.
What's the reasoning behind doing it? There is no HP gain or anything like most think.
I had to replace mine, but wasn't about to pay $600. I can PM you how
