Jeezus! This must be endemic. How damn hard is it to change the oil in a car. These morons shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets. There are 4 basic parts to an oil change. Drain the oil, put on and tighten a new filter, put the plug back in and ADD SOME GODDAMN OIL. The scary part is these people continue to populate the gene pool.
I had a bad (not that bad) experience at JL years ago, so what did I do, went to a dealer thinking they are the professionals especially for our new Honda accord.
Specifically, had this happen to me at Crown Honda in Chapel Hill a few years ago. Couldn't believe it. They didn't tighten the filter after a OC and my wife picked up the Honda Accord with <20K on it and the light came on about 2 miles up the road. She called them (not me), and they said drive it back - WTF! So she did. WTF again! &%^$#^&#*@ So they pwr washed the underside, tightened the filter and sent her home. Notice any part of that missing something.
When she got home I pulled the dipstick - NO OIL. WTF again again. You could hear me cursing two county's over at that point. They never added any oil after they tightened the filter. I made them tow it in this time that night and met the service manager when he opened up the next morning. I made a total ass of myself in the middle of his morning in-take of cars. I can't recall being any more pissed than I was that morning. I felt like he just took god knows how many miles off my new car. He wrote me out on dealer letterhead an extended warranty for premature motor problems. I don't recall for how long, but the wife totaled it at 119K so must not have been too badly damaged from their F-up. To this day, I cringe when I have to take anything in that I can't handle myself. And let's just say I've done 100% of my own oil changes and my aging parents as well ever since.
I thought I was the one in a million this kind of thing had happened to. I would go after these guys bigtime. Go right up the ladder. IIRC, JL is a lucas oil company. I would rattle some bigtime cages.
