JK guys

No it isn't, because they take 50 jeeps on "trails" (public dirt roads), have no respect for neighboring land owners, piss everybody off, and get trails closed...

For the most part, it's no where near as bad as the beer drinking on the trails crowd that could careless. I saw a lot more respect for land on the western side of the country. There were a few incidents that it was a WTF moment.

This happened about 30 mins from where I was stationed. Seen several roll overs in that and surrounding areas.

To be fair, it's probably more related to the spread of social media and huge "clubs" that organize rides more than it is the current model of Wrangler... It has changed dramtically just in the 15 years I've been wheeling. It used to be small, tight knit groups. Now you post of Facebook and have 50 people show up. And, some of the new crowd just don't know any better and the leadership doesn't coach...

That's some horrible driving.

The spotting isn't great, either.

I completely agree, it's more of a social club for a lot of folks now. It's not about actually working on each other's stuff and wheeling. It's more of let's get coffee and look at everyone's different steering stabilizers. I have to say the throttle jockeys are very entertaining but I hate fixing other people's stuff because they have no clue how to.

I've seen a bunch of rigs flop on that obstacle. I've met folks that sit straight up in the seat and both hands on the wheel and never look where their tires are going, driving by Braille really. I was fortunate enough to make friends with some victor valley club members and was shown around.

That video was mainly for entertainment and that a lot of JK owners jump in way over their heads and get the "mod bug" without learning how to wheel what they've got. I honestly beat the piss out of mine on stock tires, needed more height to keep from dragging the rockers, so bought some springs, shocks and an adjustable track bar. Found out well that damn tie rod is low slung, so developed my steering setup. Then got tired of getting hung up on the fuel tank so I flat belly'd it. Got tired of getting hung up on those boat anchor rear control arm mounts, so made my own lower control arm skids/lower shock mounts and gained 2 1/2" of clearance there. It works pretty good besides not regearing it yet. Didn't want to invest too much money because I knew one day I'd swap 1 tons under it.

I know for a fact that it doesn't matter what you wheel it's a never ending cycle that starts with the 1st mod. One mod opens the need for 2 more then those 2 open the need for 2 more. Then just when you think your done something breaks. Now it's time to upgrade and so begans the next cycle. If I had to pay someone to build and install and set up I'd be in the poor house and the dog house.

I think a lot of us just like to tinker with stuff.

for the record... This is the JK I originally spoke of... The sticker on the side explains it all.

I just realized he had SLIDERS and the POWER STEPS... Oh my.

Went with a JKUR because I can't fit all the stuff I wanted in any other kind of Jeep that was five years old or less :p

Have about $2200 in stuff added to it at the moment, although...that'll change this fall.
