A friend of mine has a 2017 JK. He is contemplating taking the carpet out and bedlining the floors. I have done this to my TJ, and like it. Now this JK is his daily driver, so how loud would it be afterwards? Any exposed (read unsightly) wires and conduit that will be discovered? This is a mall crawling daily driver so appearance is everything.

Ain't no way in hell I'd pull the carpet out of a JK to bed line the floor. Just get some good floor mats and be done.

Outside of opinion I have no factual information to provide as usual.

YouTube, there are a bunch of things to hide. If appearance is everything, why does he want to do this?

He is tried of cleaning the carpet. I mentioned getting some good weather tech mats, so this may be the route he has to go

If he’s mall crawlin the good weather Tech mats for sure!

The noise is only half the issue with carpet removal, it allows a boat load of heat to get in too. Like a floor board that will burn your leg kind of heat. And I’m betting he drives his Jeep with flip flops and white sunglasses so this would be a problem...

It’s only an issue if his sunglasses don’t match the bedliner interior.

Floor gets hot, with no carpet. I left the factory floor mats in it and just put gas in it and treat it like it’s a POS. Mine got trashed after a night I had to wash my shirt out in a bojangles bath room Bc it was soaked with mud from pulling someone and getting stuck getting to them. Carpet was ruint.

Line-x does help with noise and heat, there are 3 main wiring harnesses that run thru the floor boards, with lots of ground studs (these are kind of important). It's a lot of expense and work to do the job for little benefit, most of the time put the carpet back in. Check out a company called Bedtread. They have replacement carpet (I know for the TJ) that is preformed and cut that has good insulation and "bedliner" top finish, removable if it needs to be cleaned or replaced.

If he is set on taking carpet out have the floor lined with line x then put weathertech floor mats on top of the liner
