JK steering box - what is the steering box end ?
It does appear that that is a 18mm ? (18mm DD) (editted 17mm ---> 18mm)
(Double D)

I want to tighten like the factory has it. A bolt to the side or something.
The other end i can weld it up.
I am not about to pay $200 for a new one.

Is there another spot on a specific car that might have them? (18mm DD)
Type of car ? (Model/Year)

I tried search for a intermediate shaft of various cars and no one has the measurement or sizes,
Some are prices well ($20) but the do not have measurement........

Also if i recall, the TJ (not JK) had another end, (not the steering box) one of the intermediate the had a similar end but i am not sure i it is 17mm.....

Does it, have a 17mm/18mm DD end?

Please help !

TJ upper shaft (is that 18mm ????)

I have an JK box, it has a (im guessing) 18mm DD (Double D)
it is NOT splines like 'other' boxes. (see my pics)
I need a coupler to mate, to it.
I do not like the standard one that uses a nub or similar.
.
If a can find a 18mm DD one, than i will use it.
Either a OEM stock factory one, like the JK, that has a 18mm DD on it, OR
something else that has a 18mm DD on it.
(like the TJ upper shaft, it is a 3 part shaft. So im referring to the lower part it,it has a weird way of matting)

a pic of a stock, factory, OEM steering box,
(see it does NOT have a 'spline' on the joint, it has a DD
.
Thank you for asking the question,
im sure there are others, that may think the same thing.

You are 100% right. I really am not sure what I was thinking. Dam cold meds are obviously messing with my brain. Anyway Crown makes a replacement shaft for like $100 so you would have a factory fit then you could graph it into the upper end. Crown Automotive PN 52007017

What are you using this box in? I'm guessing its not a JK.

So since you are not using it in a JK is there a specific reason why you picked a JK box? Mounting location or something. Unfortunately the sector shaft in them is pretty week. Especially if you have one of the Chinese boxes from a 10 or newer. Easiest way to tell is if it is rusty or not. If rusty you have the older Delphi built box which are better.

well... i did not want to say anything that would seem that i did not care.
I look forward to listening to everyone opinion.
I did like your threads on your Sami, (my 'old' screen name was yagzuki)

But, i did find it on ebay ;) $30
It show up yesterday.
.
For reference it is from a Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee 1999-2004
it is a 'lower shaft, steering box'
These have a box that is close to those, and they put on the JK except,
it is a reward swing on WJ and a forward swing on the JK, but basically 'kinda' not the same.....

While being on a call with my brother/twin he kindly measured it for me,
on his box, he had a 1999-2004 WJ box, his was a Delphi box, rusted, something about
going fast, left hand turns, round and round, Fonda (NY), and i doz off..... :flipoff2:
.
I had to tweak it on the end. Drill about 1/8" on the end, with 3/4" drill bit, so it would slip on the input.

* Yes he has a circle track car, this year hes running 'modified'
Anyway, he got it from his friend Robs at Harry's Auto U-pull it parts Johnstown, NY (maps google)
also his racing buddy ;) (he run Street Stock)
