I am in the market for a used JK Unlimited but not sure which package has the best axles, etc. I know the Rubicon usual is the highest end and comes somewhat rock ready but I don't think my budget can afford a Rubi. I have looked at a few used Sahara's and a few basic X models but I just want to make sure I get the Dana 44 axles with the best gear ratio's. I have read that some come with the factory 4:10 gearing while others have 3:12 gearing. In the future I want to eventually run 35's so the 4:10 gearing is a must but not sure how to tell what the ratio on is by looking at the housing. I used to have a TJ with a Dana 35 on 35" tires and I upgraded the axle ratios to 4:56 so I know the difference between the housing shapes of a 44 and a 35 but not sure how to tell the gear ratio by looking at the housing. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

All JK Unlimited come with D30 frt(except Rubicons) and D44 rears. Our '07 has 3.29 gears. It's an automatic. be careful looking for a used one. Many came with only 2WD.

wanted to run 35s on it your still going to want to regear from 4.10s. Jks have no power on 35s with 4.10. i would just get whatever gear ratio you can find and plan on regrearing to 4.88s or 5.13s
