Anyone familiar with the Parker's Creek campground at Jordan lake? I haven't been in about a year. The reservation lady told me that it was for group camping only. I have been there a bazillion times in the past and it has regular camping spots (about 200 of them). Has it changed in the past year?

Not sure, nothing's changed dramatically as far as I can tell.
Have you tried calling back and getting a different person?

There's other camping areas as well, unless you're fixated on parkers

You need family camping. Parker's Creek does not have a reservation system for the family camping sections they are all first come and first serve. The rest of the camp grounds around the lake you'll need reservations. However, you can go to the NC Parks website and reserve them there. It is pretty easy.

However, in the past year or so they have really pushed the reservation system. Most of the other state parks are really recommending that you pre-reserve a site. Most of the time the camp grounds are not full and you can get a site if you just show up, but it is pretty easy to go and reserve a site. But you can't really do much if you don't know what sites are the good ones and you never know what neighbors you're going to have.

Love Jordan Lake. We have stayed quite a bite at Popular Point(Reservation Highly Recommended) and now have started going to Parker's Creek. I don't like Parker's Creek as much because of the stumps that are off in the water, but if your not boating it isn't that bad. Parker's Creek is a much slower and less crowded camp ground compared to the others.

Let me know if you have any questions my wife and I have spent about 10 weekends just the year at state parks.

Sorry to Hijack, but where would you say was your best experience at for a good weekend getaway

I live next to jordan lake, so me and the girlfriend go there all the time, looking for something, and not at uwharrie, since we're there all the time as well.
Have a pontoon boat, just looking for somewhere to camp and throw the boat out during the day and relax at night.

This is an open question to anyone with some pointers.
