Currently...an 1980 LWB Pickup with a bobbed bed, no fenders and a blown 20r. The motor is being replaced with a 20r from BJACK that I will be picking up tomorrow.

Step 1 is just to get it running and driving. from there I will go ahead and build as things break.

Thinking something along the lines of:
Dual cases w/ stock gears
63" Chevy Springs in the rear w/ dual shackle setup and the stock rears in the front (Have chevy's already)
Welded Rear
Aussie/Lockright front
Crossover steering
35-36 TSL Bias Ply's
Interior cage tied into a bedcage
Sliders

Looks good... if u hadnt already got the motor, id say go 22r with the 20r head... and u might consider dual trannies instead of dual cases.... tons of gear options but dunno how itll fit ur cab/WB... maybe a few of the guys mroe familiar can chime in...

Got the motors swapped over this weekend. All in all about 10 hours of working and it runs. We had to swap out the water pumps, carbs, crank pulley's, power steering and brackets, oil pan and pickup. The intake mani is water cooled apparently so I have to go back and pull the carb and install a new gasket so it doesnt leak everywhere.

To Do List: Carb Gasket, Idler pully, PS belt, master cylinder, Cases, DShafts, Weld diff(s), replace windshield, remove doors, Mount the cowbell, get more body damage/flop it

After 2 hard weekends of work shes ready for Harlan. We got the motors swapped last weekend and spent this weekend figuring out the charging and starting problems as well as welding the rear and adjusting the lash which was pretty bad. Figured out that it had 4.38 gears instead of the 4.10's.

Also got a nice cowbell hanging from the front bumper.

Up next will be dual cases most likely.

Pics from last night...note DP's artwork (probably wont stay haha)

I got it from one of Metal Mangler's friends down in Elkin. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing after Crozet.

CodyJH is runnin 2.5" Spacer lift w/ Bilstein 5125's in the rear and a 3" body.

move that shackle mount back...forget dual shackles...done that...it sucks...

less flex is cooler than loading and unloading those things all day...

...yeah...beat up the already crappy trucks...keep the new ones shiney...

Yeah we decided against it. Im going to have to weld in a Xmember because the frame was cut off as well when it was bobbed. That should give me a place for the mount.

hey man, i have talked to you before on here. i live in boone as well. if you need any info on the dual trannies let me know. its cheap as hell with a ton of gearing. right now i have $200 in my whole setup. thats a w56 with adapter. csudman has beat on his for months with no issues. i will be running mine with tons and 40s. nice rig by the way, let me know if i can help you in anyway. pm me and i will give you my number so we can get together and wheel somewhere near boonetown

Sounds good. I will drop you a PM. I cant wheel it around Boone until it gets a tag on it. Thanks to running Mason Jar at Harlan this weekend, I Have some stuff to replace before she will pass inspection.

Could just bolt / weld the second shackle in place.. seen it done when guys got tired of all the downsides but didn't want to make a new hangar.

I thought about that too. For now Im going to assess the real issues with the truck...Not enough gearing and it needs some tube work.

It ran Mason Jar really well but it was all skinny pedal, otherwise it wouldnt have made some of those ledges.
