So I was running back to the office today for some parts. I'm headed down 540 just before Glennwood ave going towards the Airport. I had just passed a wood chip truck when I heard a funny noise. I looked in my side view mirror and saw all kind of sprks flames and smoke comming from the truck I had just passed. I picked my parts up and headed back up 540 and here's what I was behind just seconds before it happened. Click on the first pic for video.

WTF happened there?

Trying to haul something other than wood chips in it, maybe?

Box trailers have no frame, when you cut the roof out and turn it into a sawdust/chip trailer they don't last long. The only steel frame rails are to hold the tandem.

I came by there about 7:30 tonight from work, the trailer is still sitting on the side of the road and I was wondering what the deal was.

They said on the news that he was rearended and that weakend the frame enough for the weight of the mulch to make it collapse.

wow - I'd feel pretty bad-ass if I hit a semi and it folded up like that!
Must have been rearended by Chuck Norris!

I passed a truck sitting in the middle of 49 last month. The forklift he was hauling was hanging halfway through the rotten trailer floor. It was digging the forks into the asphalt. I bet that got his attention!
It started tearing the floor out at the nose of the trailer, when it stopped it was all crashed into the tandems.
