I recently paid to be a member of another offroad forum specific to the type of vehicle I drive. Within a month of getting my membership I have come to realize that I shouldn't have wasted my money on a membership there and just stuck with the tried and true NC4x4.com.

Thanks for keeping these forums a great place to hang out and post 4x4 stuff without all the politicking, bandwagon forming, and newbie running off that occurs on other forums.

So, here's a big thanks to everyone that makes this forum great.

Hey...we have all that good stuff too!
we just keep it locked up in the garage..lol

Was this NAXJA? I think that may be the worst forum on the internet for "outsiders" even more so than pirate, but in much different ways.

You won't get flamed to death over there, but the site is damn near unusable for non-paying members.

It was NAXJA. I posted a link to the XJ hitting the other XJ at the Flats and was warned about "Advocating unsafe behavior". When I asked about it I was told by the moderator that he didn't have to justify his reasoning for deleting the thread. I asked the Board of Directors for an explaination and was told that it was removed due to it not being family friendly. When I showed them a link to a google search of how much unfamily friend stuff there actually is, I was told to grow a set.

So I posted in the user questions area about why I was warned and was flamed for being a baby. This was of course after being flamed for complaining that one of their sponsor vendors had failed to ship a product within their advertised times.

It's unlikely that I'll be posting over there anymore, which is unfortunate, because I have a long list of mods for my XJ.

Don't really want to drag that drama over here, just figured it was worth mentioning that I appreciate the crowd and staff here, and other XJ owners should be aware of the pack mentality that I witnessed over there.

Figures:rolleyes:

You are right, we have a good thing going over here.

No need to go there to ask XJ related questions for your mods, we have plenty of very knowledgeable people over here. Good luck with your build.

What forum and who was the original mod? Is the thread dead? What was it called? Maybe I've been there too long but this sounds out of character for the site as a whole. Over the years it has been very helpfull to me for the xj.

NM found the thread in the Garbage can. Would like to know more though.

Clearly, you are on the "inside"

what has been posted so far in this thread sounds 100% IN CHARACTER for how i have perceived that site, and apparently Im not the only one.

Look, I shouldn't have brought up the name of the site, and for that I apologize to the OP of this thread. No hard feelings, but the way that site is run has kept me away, with no plans to return, and I'm sure plenty of others.

Hate to hear that but unfortunately it is the nature of the beast. I think you may be misinformed. I am not on the "inside" I have just been there for a long time.

MY VID how is that not family friendly ?

No hard feelings with the other site. I just wanted to thank everyone here for keeping this forum a great place to post.

No problem. Still going to the Meet in Charlotte? What about the Crawl in Harlan? I kinda stay in the SEC Forums and the Non-Tech forums. Which section did you post that in?

I'm going to the meet and greet only because I've already agreed to bring stuff. It's unlikely I will go to the Crawl in Harlan. I'll still use NAXJA as a resource, but posting over there is highly unlikely.

Ya, it was YOUR VID that got me in trouble. Thanks a ton. I was accused of being someone in the video. Can you imagine? I actually use my mirror when reversing. Wait, my jeep doesn't have a rear view mirror. /sarcasm

Wow my XJ on XJ porn vid made it to NAXJA? SWEET!

For the record, there was nothing unsafe about that. No one was hurt and only my jeep was damaged. The only family unfriendly thing about it was me dropping the f-bomb.

Ya, cussing was a reason given for the warning as well. But when I sent them a google search result from "site:naxja.org bad word OR bad word 2 OR bad word 3" I was told that I was being a baby and that moderators can't look at every thread.

I mentioned using Google Alerts to do the moderation for you so you don't have to seek out "bad words" and I feel that the idea fell on deaf ears. Fairly certain the in-crowd is well established and anyone pointing out double standards isn't going to make many friends.

I've never posted much on there. There is a plethora of good XJ knowledge there, but I've always been able to find what I needed without having a paid membership. I prefer to keep my membership local, here on nc4x4.com. I have always had all of my questions answered here and have never been flamed about anything. Here I have a chance of getting to know the members because I can meet them in person and wheel with them. You build much more rapport when the members are local. When you smack a guys XJ with yours and he just laughs about it, you know you're within a family!

NAXJA has that same attitude to a point. All the SE Chapter guys I know and have known for a while have the basic attitude of wheel what you got. There are guys in the SE that are members that don't wheel xj. There are also guys in other chapters that are the same. Flaming is a part of the internet. I see it most on Pirate. IMHO the worst 4x4 ever. I'm not saying we are perfect just saying that you get it everywhere even here.
