Inspired by something I just read. To paraphrase "Gonna strip it down and straighten out the wiring and switch to propane." Not an exact quote but close enough to signify I didn't say it by putting it into "".

BUT we've all thought it. We've all experienced it. We have all cussed the opposite. I've even divulged into reading several books, blogs, and so forth on the subject pertaining to just about everything in life. One frame of mind from thru hikers of the AT suggest and support the concept to its extremity. Many who have stripped down their life to just what they carry on their back can't re-adjust to the daily SNAFU caused by daily life in the norm.

I almost never look for short cuts. On the contrary my dreams always seem to take the left turn at concept and jump over function. This usually obliterates simple and bogs down the process. At some point the morning coffee kicks me back to reality where I'm faced with finances and time frame. KISS isn't always in my planning but

I get all warm and fuzzy at a job well done.

What kind of life hacks ya'll use to keep the family sane?
And since this is an auto motive based forum......
If you could build one cost effective, fuel efficient, easy to work on daily driver what would it be? Or how would you piece together the ultimate KISS transportation?

Now in this category I know we could easily make a solar powered unicycle. So within reason were speculating a 4wd capable of 1/2 ton duties and or the family A to B vehicle that doesn't land us in a circus act wearing big red shoes and a polka-dot outfit.

Seems modern manufactures are constantly re-upping the game. I haven't found anything new I desire. They all scream instant SNAFU, FUBAR, and TARFU falling apart in that order.

Like a mail jeep? Or you talking big brown delivery truck?
SUV. Pickup and grocery getter in one?

Sounds more like a party barge.

My wagoneer with carbed 360. Eliminate the emissions bs and they are nothing more than an air pump with some simple wiring. Not fuel efficient at all, but itll go a to b and anywhere else you want to go really.

a tin top samurai with a weber. That is of course if you dont really like your family. Dont be surprised if your kids grow up and end up like the Menedez brothers.

I'd build a 1/2 ford crewcab. I'd say a 1985 model front clip(first truck). Cab from a mid 90's. EFI 300. 4x4. Automatic. Yes TTB. Yes 8.8. Nothing custom fabricated. Just new bushing, bearings, and rubber.

Next truck is either going to have every option or no options.

78-79 full size bronco, converted to 4 door, Dana 60's, 12 valve Cummins with a 6spd and 205 case.

Or the excursion I already have, with 05-07 axles and suspension, running/driving with a tuner and 6spd.

I’ll probably get made fun of again but I wish Ford still had TTB in their 1/2 ton trucks. I really don’t have anything els to add. Sorry.

your truly a convert....leaves and springs too four link and coils tooooooo scissors.:D

Not simple per say but I've wanted to build a 1st gen blazer on a late model 4wd chassis. LS, 6spd at, lowered kinda like a stock 2wd for better fuel mileage.

Or like a crew cab rabbit pickup with mechanical vw turbo diesel.

If u can tell, my DD is mostly economy with a little fun/comfort/utility mixed in.
