anyone on this board do any kayaking, i did it a few years back and am really looking to get back into it, probally be more of a lake boat but would like to get back into some rapids and stuff. What are some recomindations for a good all around kayak. And where is there to go, let me know thanks

I have a few kayaks, the two funyaks in the avatar pic and a small Minnow kayak with no skirt. I go out on Lake Wylie all the time. As for some more extreme with rapids, go to the White Water Park off 85 in Gastonia. They have all ranges of rapids all the way up to class five. I think it is $30 to raft, i do not know the cost if you have your own gear. Let me know if you wanna take a trip!

I might bring one of the canoes up there sometime. Do they rent whitewater canoes with air bags there?

i went yesterday. took the yadkin from eastbed to donaha (only section with rocks and drops to make anything close to being a "white water"). It SUCKED! water was so low, did more walking than i did floating! and it was such slow going, it took over 5 hours do it!

ive heard even worse about the dan river this summer too.

any river reports guys?

I have been kayaking a couple times and had a great time. I also went rafting in TN, with class 3-4 rapids, that was a lot of fun.

One of the times we went kayaking we went to Danville NC/VA. We had a good time until the kayak that my friend rented ruptured the bottom and started to sink we had to walk a couple miles up a secluded road and had a random guy pick us up and take us back to the kayak club, they where really nice and gave us our money back, so all in all it was definitely worth the money.

I`ve kayaked with a Pamlico 120 Wilderness Systems for the past 3 yrs. Bought the gf a 9' Old Town last year. We (a friend and his son) usually go up to New River a couple times a year. Mostly class 1 with some 2`s and 3`s. The last couple of years we did 7-8hr trips. Lay back with a cooler and a fishing pole and float along in the peace and quiet. Nothing better.
