I have been throwing around the idea of getting a diffrent car, i have been browsing craigslist for a week or so looking at prices on 4th gen fbodys and it seems when i KBB the diffeent cars the price on craigslist is 2-3k more than the KBB value. What would you guys make of this because whenever i got a car before the prices were relatively close.

Thanks for any help.

I use to have the notion kbb was the standard for purchasing a car back then, within a reasonable margin. I didnt know if it had just fell off because i remember people always posting the kbb value when saleing a used car.

Relatively standard selling tactic. KBB gives a value, seller asks more than that to end up where it's worth after negotiating.

Yeah i understand the economics behind it but a $3k+ in diffrence was throwing me off because im use to talking down maybe $500 to $1k.

You're also dealing with the Craigslist factor.

Yes CL used to be a great place to find good stuff at good prices. Now everyone thinks they are a wheeler dealer and just start high so they can settle at a ridiculously high price.

On a 4th gen KBB sees an American car that is 15 years old at the newest, and prices accordingly.

The rest of us who like F-bodies see it differently.

BTW, even if my 98 TA was completely stock and in the good shape it is, I could easily get what I paid for it 14 years ago.

They only do that shit when its worth more than they are askin. The 2-3K difference over KBB could be for stuff the owner has done to the car like exhaust, tint, wheels, ect.Thats not equity they have put in to the car even though they seem to think so.

I think I should be able to get a discount off of the price for having to painstakingly remove that low-quality tint that has turned purple. I really wish people would either go with quality stuff or just not tint at all. Nothing makes a car less attractive....

I like Edmunds for car pricing
