i think its called a track bar, its like a panhard bar only goin front to back. its on the front of my 81 toyota and im tryin to put some 4" springs on it and it seems like that bar is not letting the axle line up right with the spring. should i keep it and make it longer? try to force everything together the way it is? or just do away with it all together?

Leafs or coils. Thats an imporatant thing to know. If coils you HAVE to have it or your axle will move side to side. Leafs its not as important.

Do away with it. It is there to keep the axle from rolling foreward during hard braking. But with bigger springs you won't need it. It also impedes with flex on the front axle. Just be sure to cut the brackets off to save wieght!

An 81 Toyota pick-up has leaf springs, I know I use to one one. If you can take a picture and post it up so we can see what you are talking about.

Remove it if you have high steer, you can remove it even if you dont, but be aware that under hard brakeing you can get pretty bad brake steer.
