Anybody got a favorite spot to camp at Kerr Lake?

I used to fish and sail a bunch up there, liked to camp at Presbyterian Point (above Townsville), but they shut down a few years back. Looking for a new spot.

Waterfront sites a plus.

Boy that brings back memories. As a young boy we fished and camped at Presbyterian Point. But that was back in the late 60s and early 70's.

It's closed for the winter now but for summer camping, Henderson Point is really nice. It's up around Townsville, about three miles North. Our company did a major renovation to the camp ground last year which updated the campsites, electric and water and added a new bath/shower house.
Too bad it's only open for such a short season as it would be a nice place to do some fall or winter camping. Probably about as far from civilization you can camp on Kerr lake, in a camp ground anyway.

Yep, we've camped at Henderson Pt before. What we liked about Presbyterian Point is that it was church-run, and they kept things under control...didn't put up with any crap like you find at a lot of campgrounds.

We had a lot of good times up there...I'd take my sailboat, my dad would take his bass boat...we'd fish til the wind came up, then sail until it was time to fish again. Rinse, lather, repeat.
