Looking for first hand Kilt owners buyers experience. Looking at a utility bs. To work in. Prefer to here a review from first hand owner and brands. Seems alot are made in foreign parts and have really hit or miss quality.

Not looking for leather or wacky chains and garb. Smithy and metal working wearable.

I mean…my wife made me this…

Between working with a ham radio group doing public service comms for highland games in G-boro and a bro-in-law who has an Air Force dress blues with a kilt I've seen more than a care to remember.
I have gone as far as looking up our clan plaid, but ......
I don't think anyone would enjoy watching this broken down mess of a human trying to climb into a Samurai with 7+ " of lift while wearing a kilt! o_O:shaking::laughing:
Best bet is to hit up a highland games or such and talk to the vendors ..... they have anything kilt related you can think of!

And .....oh yeah , this!

I'm in the could care less about appearance and more about not burning my bits and getting all the air I can.
This is the season where my body says Screw this heat. I cannot afford AC in my building but a drafty attire may help. I work in shorts often unless it's heavy welding or Mobile.

I really do understand.
I finally found the kilt I was thinking about.

I decided to look the link up myself .....Holy Bitcoin Batman! them thangs is 'spensive!
Utilikilt

Here is a link to utility kilts that are much more reasonably priced.

Yes, much higher then some other I have shopped. To darn high to purchase and find poor quality for sure.

I cant believe @paulevans76 hasn't responded!
I have had the same sportkilt brand kilt for like 12 years - made for throwing in the highland games and easy informal use, so I didn't think my experience would matter much to the OP. I compete in it, but it's not anything that would stand up to shop use, metal work, etc. Its like the cheapest possible option, attaches with velcro and it's fairly thin layered cotton, not wool or canvas or anything like that. And I don't really know many guys who have used the utility style kilts.

@WARRIORWELDING, just saw a mountain of a man in Walmart that was wearing his work kilt so I had to ask him what he wears , haha. He was a heavy timber framer and said thats all he ever wears. It was the Utilikilt brand but he said he usually tries to find them on ebay.
Have not pulled the trigger, darn things cost a lot. It's like everything else I've seen crotchless. Expensive and probability a questionable decision to participate.

When I went to Scotland a few years back, it was my intention to get an authentic kilt as my souvenir. Walked in the store, said yes! This is the stuff I want. Looked at the price tag and said, guess I’ll go steal a cool pint glass from the pub for a souvenir. A good kilt is quite pricey!
