Just got to thinking, what brand names do you or people you know use instead of the actual product name. Example I am bad about calling 'tissue' simply 'kleenex.' My wife is bad about calling any 'skidsteer' a 'bobcat.' What other ones do you hear?

Towmotor = forklift Towmotor brand hasn't been around since the early '80s, been used as a generic term for forklifts for as long as I can remember.

jeep = any SWB (short wheel base) vehicle with 4x4

One of my biggest pet peeves. A girl i worked with had GEO Tracker, and called it a 'Jeep', I constantly asked her "Wow, when did you get a new vehicle?" And it pissed her off to no end... :lol:

weedeater-line trimmer
reese hitch-receiver hitch
q tips-cotton swab
neosporin-antibiotic ointment
channel locks-adjustable pliers
sawzall-reciprocating saw
skilsaw-circular saw
windex-glass cleaner
gojo-hand cleaner

Bush Hog
Vise Grips
Cresent Wrench

There's a bunch more, I just can't think under this kind of pressure! :rolleyes:

Chop box=Dual bevel sliding compound miter saw.

sawzall-reciprocating saw
I usually see it referred to as a "saw-saw." I don't know which is worse. Craigslist is the worst for that. That, and the guy selling his 94 "Camero."

I think Sawzall has got to be the MOST mis-spelled tool name on this board.

Differentials=?

Diff=Hogs Head=Chunk=Pig=Pumkin=Rearend(front&rear)=plow=rok chock=who knows what else....:confused:

Also is Ranchero a Suspension Company or an old Ford from back in the day....or is that a term from an old Western movie??

a guy told me he had some ranchero shocks on his rig last night...I was like cool man ....and thinking .... no I won't be needing your help on my projects...:shaking:...

Coming from a family that used have its own construction company I find it funny when talking with people and you say Skidsteer Loader they look at you funny, but if you say Bobcat they know exactly what your talking about. I favor Bobcats over New Holland, John Deere, JCB, Scat Track, Toyota, and above all else Case but I still don't call them Bobcats.
