I'm watching the UTV qualifying now. I like the real rigs, can't get into these but's it still off road so I'm good!

I always end up watching the highlight reels . usually miss it

I usually watch the Shootout and then keep the EMC and the Main Event on during the day Friday and Saturday. I did catch some of the Class 11 VW bugs Saturday night, they were pretty cool to watch.

Back in the olden days when it was just the big race on Fridays, it was easy to blow off a single productive work day at the end of the week.
Now it takes a real marathon of nonproductiveness.

I feel most of us could excel at such a marathon. Especially those of us with government related jobs lol.

I watched the shoot out tonight. Caught some of the other stuff going on. I'm glad they made the shoot out fun again.

I haven't watched any of it in many years. Zero interest.

Where do you watch it now? I'm sure I could find it, but it'd be easier if someone posted a link 😅

Ever since they took took shootout away from Backdoor I think it's lost some of its luster.
I agree. Last night was a good close 2nd. Kind of sad that there wasnt any east coast folks, and the numbers were low. But atleast I was able to stay awake to the end.

I watched most of the shootout and was a little disappointed. Even though its not east coast hill killing and video can be deceiving, there wasn't any bouncers launching up the rock face. I would have thought that there would have been way more competitors too. They might as well change it to a moon buggy competition.

Watched the shootout. The first couple recoveries too way too long. They should he recovery provisions ready in that spot. It got a little better but it did leave a lot to be desired. Shoulda had it limited to about 6 minutes IMO.

Did anyone catch who the lights they used were by? I didn’t hear it….

The announcer they had with Ian was better this year, I thought. But it was sad that the 2 of them kept questioning what tires the two of them were running. And one of them kept talking about the awesome drone footage. It was making me sick with all the 360 spinning around the rigs.

They were talking about how in the SRRS and East coast racing, they have equipment setup to recover the rigs. I was thinking that they could have had the same thing setup out there to flip the rigs back over. The fact that they were considering to leave 1 buggy on the course, says alot to me. In the time to discuss all of that, they could have had them recovered.

I noticed the tire comments too. I was shocked really, coming from Ian who I’d have thought would recognize a tires size and what it is at glance like most of us.
Agree on the drone footage, while some of it was great, more than half was just too much movement. I wasn’t sure if I was watching KOH or Cloverfield (worst movie ever)

But, at the end of the day I’m glad to have been able to watch it like I did over how it used to be streamed years ago.

Shout out to 2009 when it was just Lance with a radio in a van.

Also, did no one anticipate that a sxs buggy would just blast the first section of course for the $7500 and then not even attempt a run at the ledge? I would be surprised if they do the same payouts next year.

This years Shootout was meh IMO. The wall climb was too much for all but the two moon buggies, and personally I liked it better last year(?) when the bouncers had their course and the moon buggies had theirs.

I actually was really disappointed in the shootout, thought it was pretty tame. Definitely need it more like it was when it was at Backdoor. It's the shootout, not a WEROCK event.
Exactly. I kept waiting for a rev limiter clutch dump but I only saw like three...maybe. If you crawl the shootout you know you're from the West. I was really hoping some down south rowdies would show up. Seemed like everyone was from the left coast and Canada.

I can agree with you on this but I still enjoyed watching them all try that big ass ledge. It's definitely gotten tamer.

Josh Thomerson ran towards the back in his new PCR buggy. He’s a good friend from Glasgow, KY. I knew when he rolled his buggy on the shootout he wasn’t done. He doesn’t give up easily. Here’s him in his old buggy at Harlan. Sorry for the language, it was at the end of a long day lol. Points to anyone who can guess who’s talking out of frame:lol:

Man I had a pretty excellent day and watching that was a cherry on top! That was awesome. And some people may think it’s ridiculous and not understand but that hyped up feeling after something like that is awesome, from the driver to the friends watching, everyone gets pumped and there’s nothing like it.

I don’t know who was talking but my first guess was @McCracken when he’s like “coolers good, back up” but I think I was wrong.

This is the main reason I quit watching the shootout live and now just watch it later. Usually busted knuckle and madram11 both will have videos of all the good stuff and it can be watched in 15 minutes tops.
