Tires tech.
What did you use to run in KOH/EMC ?
How did they grip the rocks and handle the dirt/sand?
How many did you use ?
What size and tire seemed to hold up the best ?

Well a Falken tire not available for sale anywhere in the world won EMC...despite the "must be widely available to purchase rule"

So many people were pissed in the inner circles about that fact, no one wants to be the guy who throws a red card though.

I ran the same MTR's with Kevlar that I raced last years race with (that I punctured two tires last year, and ran them patched for this year) and then drove them all over Charlotte the last 12 months.

They were great! I ran 37x12.5 r17's at 20psi on all 4 corners. They probably heated up to 22 or so in the desert, which was perfect. I pre-ran at 18 to 19 and was floating in the ruts, just a micro change to 20 and I was moving. I was shocked at how well they gripped in the rocks at that psi, but really, Thornbirds probably grip in JV.

I would not care now if they were available to purchase. I would not buy Falken tires because I call that cheating.

Must be a pretty good tire Jay to hold up to two years of KOH.
Did your tires have small punctures that you patched or did you need them vulcanized ?

Take nothing away from 'em...great rig and he wheeled it...but rights right. No one wanted to throw the Red Card because they knew the backlash...but it doesnt change the fact.

According to Pirate, you can find them and buy them, you just gotta "know" someone who sells them. Pretty weak response IMO.
New rule should be: Must be able to order online and pickup at 4WP or Discount Tire to be class legal.

The Nitto Trail Grapplers were running amuck in all of the classes. Guess because they were the title sponsor. Anyone run those? How did they do?

I know of at least two racers who TRIED to buy them and were told none were available and Falken wasnt sure if any more production runs would be happening.
But its KOH...and Pirate swings off the nuts so their wont be a 27 page argument about it...

Id never own a pitbull...tire or dog.

The Krt b used to be the tits out west...but not sure ID want them in east coast slop.
The goodyears were all the rage for a while...

Until people had to wait 3-6 months for replacements.
Give me a set of Treps for all around use or Krawlers for crawling. Of course better keep a plug and patch kit for the BFGs...
Krawlers with a Maxxis or SX type sidewall would be tits.

I remember Z man telling em he cut a BFG side wall armoralling it one time and I ahd to stop and ask if that was a joke or serious...but yeah they stick like crazy especially out west.

I really want to work out a set of sticky SX's and see how they compare to your holy grail combo..but ID still like a tweaked tread pattern.

May just be the angle of the pic but it looks like Photoshop.

Nothing like it on any of the other tires, inner or outer sidewalls either.

I see that now. I'm quoting a job and wasn't paying attention.
Nice photoshop!

photoshop!

I'm pretty sure he took an existing Red label to a tire shop and they just vulcanized a re-tread cap on the sidewall.

Bingo, tire had a lot of sidewall damage from a rollover my tire guy came up with the idea.
