Landcruiser 9.5 3rd member lockers? (spool preferably)

I have searched online for a spool for a cruiser axle, but can't find anything. Does anyone make one? I'd prefer a full spool over a mini-spool, but I can't find either.

If a spool is not made, what are my other alternatives? I'd love to have an ARB but don't expect I'll be racing the buggy next year so I don't want to dump the coin on one.

I'm also afraid a lockright might not hold up to the abuse in the rear axle. I've already busted the spider gears twice (2nd time today at DPG), not sure if I am welding them wrong or what, maybe it's just Honda power :)

Suggestions?

GM 12 bolt mini spool works.
I just weld 'em up.
*edit, missed where you welded and broke it, you are def welding it wrong. See pic.
I broke a rear Full Floater shaft in the welded rear of my 80, nothing budged in the third.

Also, kind of odd a 12 bolt mini spool will fit it, anyone else heard of this? I'd prefer a full spool just for the extra strength though.

Oh, and cutting the rear axle up to keep from having to remove the 3rd, original :D I've got the FJ-40 axle with the bolt-on rear cover so it will be easy for me.

Couldnt remove third untill axle was out. It broke halfway into the tube. Had to remove crosspin to hammer shaft out from other side. Then removed third, cleaned etc.

we tried a 12 bolt mini spool in my 80 rear axle but it wasn't going to happen without too much modification. I ended up welding mine up. I welded the spiders to the side gears in the 8 normal spots, then pulled the cross pin, rotated the side gears and spiders 90 deg. within the carrier and welded up the mesh pattern all the way down all 4 sides. Rotated it back in place and put cross pin back in (after installing the 3rd, shafts, and center block/c clips. Only one ride on it so far but it held up fine.

can't find a pic of the mesh pattern welded up...

don't still have the mini spool. The land cruiser still belonged to xjay back then and I was helping him work on it before he sold it to me so I could pull the axles for my jeep. I don't remember what all needed to be done but I remember thinking that it just wasn't worth it since welding it was free.

Here is a shot of how I rotated the gears inside the carrier and welded the mesh pattern. I flapped disked the welds after this pic was taken just enough so it would rotate back in place.

The only problem I encountered by welding them up this much was the amount of heat introduced into the whole assy. caused the side gears to pull in towards the spiders ever so slightly so I had to flap disk the side of the block that floats on the cross pin in order to get it back in. It wasn't a big deal but If i had to do it again, I would put something inbetween the side gears to hold them apart while welding it all up.

Just weld it already!

Wish I had read this before I welded mine! Welded rears in minis a few times, but they are NOT the same. IF you weld it do it like this. I screamed at mine for a full day before using a BFH to pound everything together in a fit of rage. I have about 6 rides on mine (and I drive it like its the last time I get to) and everything is fine. Running stock gears with 33 TSL's and plenty of skinny pedal.
