No I'm talking computers! Does the touch pad on laptops go bad? Mine has been getting very erratic lately. And yes I clean it. Is it time to get a mouse? If so, any suggestions? Thanks:confused:

Depending on the model they can be very challenging to change. The only real problems is the button breaking. If it's jumping around the screen it may be a sign of a more serious problem such an overheating or an infection.

Mine gets all wacky until I lick my finger. Seriously, dry skin and touchpads don't work well together.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try the licking, I have dry fingers anyways.

LOL, that's funny because I was going to say exactly the opposite; mine doesn't work at all if my finger is wet. It's the devil to use it in my van when it's raining and I have to work outside. Anyway, google touchpad replacement for your particular model laptop and you'll probably find a procedure to replace it. If it looks like more trouble than it's worth, do what I did and go with a wireless mouse. If you're going that route I would highly reccomend the Logitech M305. It is a modestly priced mouse that comes with a nano sized bluetooth adapter that you can just leave plugged into your USB port with no worries about snapping it off. Prior to buying the Logitech I had a Microsoft model 4000 wireless mouse which was just a little bit cheaper, but didn't work half as well.

Ewwww.
So your pad is all covered in your saliva? Gross.
It keeps other people from wanting to borrow my laptop. Besides, it dries and you can't see it except when I have to wet my finger and I have a dip in. Dip particles on the touchpad grosses out my girlfriend.

I have an older laptop, and the mousepad thing jumps around like that, because the computer doesn't vent properly sometimes, even while sitting flat on a table or desk. Any way I can fix that?

Didn't wanna remake a thread for it, but don't wanna hijack this one either, figure it may be a similar solution.

Thanks.

My laptop is a toshiba
