Larger tires on a dually?

I have a buddy that is running 35s on a dodge dually but I cant remember how much of a spacer he is running. Something like 2" or 2.5" I think. It takes a lot to keep 12.50s from touching.

okay, i'll bite as usual. why in the hell are you doing this to a truck that doesn't even hardly run and that you claim you don't have the money to rebuild it?

i hate to tell people what to do with their money because it is theirs, but damn you are going to have some real problems later on in life if you don't start coming up with some more sensible financial expinditures on your projects. this is practice just as much as anything else is for your future. what are you going to do when you buy a house? build a garage instead of making the house payment?:flipoff2:

well, I actually just kinda upgrade when I break things, I got the new motor swapped in, and preceded to immediatly blow out the rear end (yea the 14 bolt that I just had regeared) so I figure upgrade while i'm in there fixing it.

But the real reason is cause it'll look badass :driver: plus it'll help with towing ;)

Why would I need a house If i have a garage? I can just sleep in the area above it :flipoff2:

I've considered this very same modification comparing the cost of regearing an axle compared to larger tires and spacers.:fuck-you:
Thanks for the informative response for others to know the answer as well without all the flaming SolarYellow05!

Dually wheels are pretty much all 6-6.5" wide. With so little weight on the tires, you're gonna have a helluva time not wearing the centers like crazy. I had a problem with just 235's on the Dodge.

Helo with towing? A SRW 14-bolt will support more of a load than the truck can pull. A dually look stupid, decrease overall driveability, cost a heck of alot more (6 tires/wheels), and would not add ANYTHING worth having to that truck. If it was an 2500 and had an engine/tranny good for towing, then yes it might be worthwhile.

Don't waste the money. My truck is a SRW and it will tow anything YOU have.

Sell that piece of crap and buy something that can to reliabily (and safely)

cool, i didn't realize you had gotten it fixed. i retract my previous comment.

i'm not flaming. i've met/hung out with ricky a few times, and he's a really nice guy. just has some hairbrained ideas, and it typically takes a lot of reasoning or "flaming" if you want to call it that for him to realize they're not always the smartest thing to do.

i would normally agree, but ANYTHING we can do to get him to make his trucks safer leave it alone! we'll take what we can get, lol.

also, a dually does make a lot of difference in stability.

ricky i swear your read my f'n mind. i have been thinkin the same thing for a long time. build a bad ass garage and then build a space above it that has a kitchen, bathroom and living/bedroom.

but as far as the dually thing goes cant really help you on that. but i would advise against running a spacer on a dually rear. normally tire manufacturers make tires specifically for duallys running a lift but i am not too sure about that either. good luck and yeah it would look badass :driver: wait until you see my truck

I haven't seen anyone bring to the table the fact that none of the rear wheels will fit the front. The daullie front are wider, and take the same wheel as the rears. It's gonna look really stupid, with a straight up wheel in the front and duallies in the rear:)gay: stupid). Why do people do this???? Want more load carrying-buy air bags! Plan to do anything other than tow a tag-along(6-7,000lbs.) it should hold up fine w/out the duals. Put a camper in the bed, get a duallie. This seems almost up there with"I dont have much money, but I wanna convert my 2wd to a 4wd" .

I bought my '94 Dodge 3500,CTD,nv4500 for $5,000 w/194,000. It now has 217,000 a yr later. Sucks buying 6 street tires(I know)-let alone off road tires with the right load rating!

sell that Z what-ever and buy a Cummins...you wont regret it!!:flipoff2:

Ya mean like this? There's a 2-post lift in the right-most bay (the one with the 12,000 mile Monte Carlo in it, next to the Cobra) Friend of mine at work built it.

i've always thought a firehouse would make the perfect garage/house. big, pull through bays with high ceilings and a living area.

last time i was up at ure we were comin down the backside of rocky mtn loop and right there parked at the bottom was a dodge dually with like 39's i do believe....it was F'IN SICK.....id go for it ricky.......i also would rather live in a garage than have a house......just think about how much bigger of a garage you could have.....instead of putting a house on your land then having to build a smaller garage bc your house is in the way.....shit, id just sleep in the truck lol.....ricky are you FROM mooresville...like born there? i was, and you seem to have lots of ideas that i have....and you like me are ALWAYS havin probs with vehicles lol.....its mooresville man, it puts a curse on trucks

Well, I was born In Nashville, TN but moved to Cornelius when I was like 2 and lived there till my parents moved to Mooresville bout the time I headed off For NCSU

but yea I think lifted duallys are sick too, If my rear end goes out I might do it, but it seems to be doin fine for now . . . .

dude thats my dream house except i want like a 4 or 5 car garage

I mean if were gettin picky I'd want more of a premade metal building type thats much larger, like warehouse size kinda, so that I would have room to work on like 5 rigs at once, a whole section devoted to just storing/organizing parts, and another section for like a party area type thing with couches and big azz flat screen and mini bar etc, also an office area, then I would have a "loft area" that would be my private apartment area, then on the back side I would have a rather large lean too that I could park my trailer under and still have room for a good bit of random part storage. And of course this would be on enough land to where I could have my own mud pit and rock garden and mini obsticle course right there. And it would be on like a main road cause it would also be my place of buisness for Beast Inc, heck charlotte needs a new fab shop now that Andy's gone and I am bout to graduate college and need to figure out what the f Im gonna do for a job in may . . . . . . :driver:

You should just get a GIANT warehouse. Thats like, close to a 50 car garage, plus room to work on them.

I mean thats pretty much what I mean, but not quite like fullsize warehouse size, course when I think warehouse I think like corporate lowes/walmart warehouses that are bigger than ish, I'm talkin more like a warehouse the size of like half a super-walmart or so

course it would be nice to half enough space to start my own manufacturing facilty for prefab parts too like cages, bumpers, doubler kits, suspension parts, w/e

Heck I got a degree in business management finance concentration with a minor in accounting so I could probably do the damn thang . . .

Cept I might not use the name Beast Inc for my business and reserve it for my personal vehicles/the people that are cool enough to roll in my enterouge(spelling?)

Maybe I could call it Big Ricks Off-Road Performance or RAW off road (RAW - Richard Alan Wilson, yes I have cool initials ;) )

Oh I know exactly what to do, deal in Rockwell parts . . . cause usa6x6 is the only one with reasonable prices and there service sucks ass, wouldnt be too hard to beat them out business wise . . . . just would have to find a reliable source for parts
