I looked into it, but found I was too near-sighted for Lasik, had to have the implantable contacts...at five grand PER EYE. I stuck with glasses.
Just be sure you go into it knowing how they measure "improved vision" in their 99.999% statistics...might get you to 20/20, but there can be other areas of vision that are not as good (contrast lighting, night vision, etc), but still counts in the stats as "improved" vision.
Plus, don't know about lasik (assume it's the same deal), but at least with the implants, as your vision continues to change, you end up needing glasses anyway (just not as thick, but the expense is all the same). Depending on your age, you may still want/need reading/close-up glasses.
I just got a retina tear lasered up at Carolina Eye
www.carolinaeye.com Main office in Pinehurst, so out of your area, but they are well known and respected in the industry, and do a heck of a job.
BTW, for the fogging issue on glasses, try cat crap. Really...
