Guys, can you pass the new safety testing without an E-brake, but with a Mico-lock device instead? (83' CJ7 chassis in Mecklenburg county)
What exactly is the law on this. I mean, I would like to see the wordy 'lawyer-ese' on this, not personal interpretations.

I'll go find it, but no, line-locks don't count.

§ 20‑124. Brakes.

(c) Every motor vehicle when operated on a highway shall be equipped with brakes adequate to control the movement of and to stop and hold such vehicle, and shall have all originally equipped brakes in good working order, including two separate means of applying the brakes. If these two separate means of applying the brakes are connected in any way, they shall be so constructed that failure of any one part of the operating mechanism shall not leave the motor vehicle without brakes.

Interesting. I was wondering why they pulled the ebrake when they brought my Heep in for inspection.

I got failed once b/c the e-brake cable on 1 side was broken/missing on my Cherokee.
It was an auto tranny, so I never used it. But Boy would that have been fun in a high-speed stop.

you guys are going to the wrong place if you are worried about a working e brake. most of the inspection stations out near us are way slack about all that type of stuff
