Leaf lift kits

I plan on building my own lift kit. ie. front leafs one month, rear leafs another month. My question is. I want to put 8" under my soon to be truck. So i know i need 8" leafs upfront. plan on doing a shackle flip in the rear. now what size leafs do i need for the rear. since the shackle flip is 4" does that mean i need 4" rear leaf? I only ask cuz when i had a 85 K5 the front leaf was flat, were the rear leaf had a arc. and i want to the blazer to sit leave.
 
are you looking for 8" of lift? complete custom suspension? I would think you need a length to place the center pins then have an idea what kind of weight you are handeling.
