Anyone run leaf springs without the clips? Noticed my brand damn new leaf springs have 2 clips that already came loose.

Do they really rotate and fan out?

Yep. The ones on my dad's bronco fan out. I smack them with a 3 lb sledge every so often to put them back in their place, LOL

The retainers also keep the longer leaves from drooping too much and possibly causing damage.

Advance sells pre bent u's with a bolt thru the top. It'll keep them inline and allow pack flex. I'm not sure where to get the sheet metal folding clasp kind, maybe a spring shop or online.

Place in Winston close to Olivers driveshaft, I think it's called auto spring company has the folding sheet metal style clamps. Oriellys sells some u-bolt style clamps. They don't look as good but they are not coming off.

You welded to the Leaf spring? o_O

The clips on mine were attached to the spring on the bottom and came up each side and then maybe half an inch across the top. I put a piece on top and welded that piece to the clip so it went all the way around the spring pack.

Yes, they will spread. Happened on my 4runner after I mix 'n matched a pack myself and didn't have them. Learned the hard way.

This would work,
Or as mentioned go to the place down from Olivers. I think that's where I got mine.
