So I have a 73 Jeep truck coming in to the shop this week. Got it in a package deal with another Jeep and a boat. The other is a Grand Cherokee that is a typical ZJ, but the Jeep truck is a 73 with a 360. I haven't even seen it yet, but will be picking it up this week. Guess it was their dad's truck and was running when it was parked, etc.

All I know about Jeep trucks is that I want the one from Twister and a friend in high school had a Honcho that we used to run into everything with.

Sold my Silverado a couple of weeks ago, so I am without a truck other than the Tahoe and trailer. Would be nice to have a cool shop truck, so think I am going to fix this thing up.

Anyone have any good resources for it?

It's an old Jeep, grab about any part from any truck and fix it!

BRING IT TOO US AS ITS RIGHT UP OUR ALLY FOR GETTING IT ROAD WORTHY AND BACK TO THE WAY IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY..

Not if you keep yelling at me. :p

Thanks for the offer, but I have a shop here too, I just work on stuff to resell and sell parts.

 My day job I am a mechanical designer and all my drawing text is in caps, I find myself sending all caps emails from time to time on accident, so I totally understand.

Good I thought I was the only one

www.ifsja.org is a good source for info on the J-Trucks, as someone else said, they are pretty much the same as an old Grand Wagoneer, but there are a minor few differences, the axles are wider is probably the biggest difference, and it's getting hard to find replacement shafts for the front.

Check the frame around the gas tank, the cherokees and waggys were bad about the frames bein rotted out there,The trucks are so close in design I would think they could have the same problem.

I have some almost new stock exhaust pieces if you need them you can have em. They were on my wagoneer less than three months before it spun a bearing. I have the crossover pipe and tail piece that runs over the axle and out the back. tried selling them but no takers....

I had a 79 J10 in high school. 360, TH400, quadratrac. I thought it was bulletproof and would go anywhere back then. I still miss my old J truck.

They ran TH400s or 727s for the autos. Either quadratrac full time 4wd or part time tcases. Ignition on mine was Ford. Had problems with the brain boxes and always carried a spare. If the brain box got hot, it would just shut off. I put wing nuts on the box so I could change it out in about 1 minute on the side of the road. I never melted one, so the hot one went back in the toolbox until next time. Other than the Tcase cracking and the brain box issue, I never really had any problems with it.

If I had one now (and $$ wasnt an issue), I would put it on D60s with a 6BT and a 6 speed.
