I'm thinking about but img a new tv what do yall think is the best one to get good clarity and refresh rate and best brand?

I have a 48" lg led 1080p 120 hz refresh rate and its awsome. Got it from bb for $550 otd. For best picture stay with a 1080p 120hz refresh rate. As far as led,lcd or plasma I think they are all close. Led is the best technology as of now but go with what u can afford. My brother has had a samsung plasma for 5 years now without a bit of problems. Just stay away from rca, phillips or westinghouse iv seen nothing but problems from them as friends have them.

I just bought a 55" Panasonic St 50 back in December. I love it. Darks are way better than on LCD and the price was right.

Plasma. Forget all that mess about reflections - your old TV did that too and you never complained. You can see it from nearly every angle, the picture is the best (no motion blur, no soap opera effect), brightest (if you get a good one) and has the best contrast (at home, not at the store where there's more light than you or I can afford).

Get a THX certified one and enjoy the best picture and sound outside of a movie theater.

Yeah the brightness thing is a myth. I don't notice a thing on my TV and its surrounded by windows. I've also had no IR issues like everyone seems to think exists. Granted I am a little bit crazy when it comes to making sure nothing stays on the TV thats static for more than a minute or two.

Seriously, my TV has WiFi, I can stream Netflix on it, watch 3D movies and stuff on 3D channels (kind of gimmicky, but its still cool), and its only like an inch thick. I got all this for 800 out the door from Best Buy believe it or not.

One thing to be aware of, LED TV's ARE LCD TV's, they just have a different illumination technology. LED is an illumination tech, LCD is a display tech.

The ONLY reason to get an LCD is if you have a super-bright room that you can't control the light in.

Otherwise, Plasma is superior in every way, OTHER than potential brightness and power consumption. (and if the minute difference in power usage is a deal-breaker for you, then you probably shouldn't be buying a TV of any kind to begin with)
That's why LCD's seem to look better in stores. Stores are brightly-lit, and LCD's are set on "vivid" out of the box, which will make the picture seem better IN THE STORE. But nobody has THAT much light where they watch TV. Go to a Best Buy that is a Magnolia store (like Crabtree Mall) and they have a dark area where they have the higher-end TV's of all types. You can get a better idea of what you like there.

In every other facet, Plasma is better. Only a very few, absolutely top-of-the-line LED/LCD's, such as the Sharp Elite and the Sony XBR's, can even think about pulling even with a Plasma. And they cost a LOT more than the top shelf Panasonic Plasma. Like over double. And if you watch sports or game, and don't like the picture to get a little blurry in fast moving scenes, you want Plasma. It's still unmatched, except by DLP. DLP is still the daddy for sports and gaming, but they're going away.

BTW, you can still get the Mitsubishi Laser Vue DLP's, and they are damn close to a Plasma. 75", I think they are. As long as you don't want to hang it on the wall.

My local walmart just had a close out on there toshiba 65" LCD...888.00 to make room for the new stuff coming in...

Can't beat that price with a stick. Still 1298.99 online.

It dwarfs My 50 samsung plasma...but I do like the plasma picture a little better.

Another vote for the plasma. Don't have to worry about the refresh rate like an lcd. Great picture, good darks, very little glare. If I had a chance to do it over again, I would buy the exact same 50" Panasonic Viera plasma that I have now.
