Here is a legal tip

When you are putting of your vehicle registration renewal until the last day, Don't go buy what is on your registration card.

Your plates display one date, and your card displays the other.

My card said Valid through 7/15. Cool, ive got 15 day grace period to take care of it. that means, it expires last nite, i get paid today. I shoud be safe to handle it today and be good.

Wrong. the date on your card is the date after the graqce period.

A police officer corrected this misconcpetion for me last nite.

Now i have to go to court to fix this mess.

Not complaining...my it was my screw up, but it sucks.

Thanks for the heads up. So did your sticker on your plate say "6"?

Wait, I was about to agree with you, but reread your post and am confused...your plate says 6, the card say 7/15, and you thought you could wait til 7/30 (15 days after 7/15)?

Yeah, your wording made me think too....Plates expire the last day of a month. The 7/15 (15th of any month) includes the grace period.

yeah...i know that NOW. lol, i never looked at the plate, i just assumed the plate and the card said the same thing.

that is the warning im putting out there.....GO BY THE PLATE NOT THE CARD.

I went through a liscence check yesterday morning, and the nice sheriff reminded me I had 14 days left on my tag. I'm the worst for not paying attention to that.

why are you in court to fix it?

I've had a ticket for that same thing and all I had to do was pay the registration and show it to the DA and it was dismissed.

not in court. but like you said, i do have to spend a morning waiting in line to go show the ADA that i paid the registration. i wish i could just pay it and not have to go.

like i said, i could have just paid on time and not even have to deal with this, yes, the cop could have given me a warning. am i mad, no...it was my fault. ignorance is no excuse.
