Let's Build a 98 XJ

This is the rig my son wants so we've narrOwed it down to a 98 or 99 XJ 4.0, AT, decent shape. We'll be putting 32" or 33's on it. Budget is a concern but safety is first.
What lift would you use, what issues wil pop up when we install it, and what are sOme good tips and tricks we can use as we proceed?
 
soak everything in pb blaster so no bolts break. thats whet sets me back hours at a time.

a 4.5" kit will get the 33's in there. i cant really recommend a name brand. but something with an adjustable trac bar, lower arms and full leafs. but the leafs could be substituted for an add a leaf and shackles.
 
get the 98 xj, (: more possibilities for engine upgrades and an overall more efficient motor

getting a 3 inch lift and some trimmingwill get 33's in there nicely, personally id for 4.5 also
 
imo go with a pre 96xj and they are mo better. ;) after that they had tcm problems etc.. but you have the perfect vehicle in mind... x2 on 4.5 lift trimming and 33s all day....
 
I have a 98 exactly like your talking about. Rubicon express 4.4" super flex lift and 33's. You will need a slip yoke eliminator and new rear drive shaft. Other than that just trim the fenders a little and your good to go.
 
like stated above pb blaster is your friend also some means of heating up a bolt will come in very handy. I have a 98 and its probally one of my favorites. still has a distributor and no 0331 head. if your wanting to run 33's with a four door the amount of fender you can cut in the rear is limited. So I would stick with around 4.5in lift, and if budget allows get a full leaf pack. Though a SYE isn't needed if budget is a huge concern, I will say after running a cherokee with that much lift with and with out one I wouldn't do it again.
