I got a TH 350 to go in my Jeepster behind the 4.3 that may eventually change to an LS. Core is supposedly good and could be used as is. But before it goes in I might as well have it opened up and checked out and add reverse valve body and trans brake kit. I know nothing about auto internals so will take it to a local guy. He will probably supply the kit and converter but those who have any knowledgeable input are welcome to chime in with your choice and recomendations of kit and what stall converter. I do not want a real high stall converter, I don't want to be halfway through my rpms just to get the Jeep moving. An Atlas will be behind it.
