Let's see your garage space!

Permethrin is good for carpenter bees as well, non toxic to mammals so they say,

Some say if you hang a brown paper bag from the ceiling they will think it’s a wasp nest and move in somewhere else

Permethrin is good for carpenter bees as well,

I just bought a half gallon of that stuff
Whats the best method of delivery you think?
I was planning on mixing with coconut oil and soaking ALL the wood surfaces (except hand placement areas)

Interestingly enough, hornets built a nest under there the first year. It hung there for probably 8-10 years before falling apart. Then 2-3 years later, they built a nest in the wall of the shop and got themselves kilt when they started coming inside. Maybe that is why the carpenter bees haven't bothered with the shed. Yay Hornets!

I dilute per the package and use a garden sprayer, best to do in spring and reapply in summer, skip fall and winter when they’re dormant. They die by August, but at that point they’ve laid larvae which will reappear in the spring

sounds like the insecticide stuff takes a while to kill them, so they are still able to dig in before dying off

i've heard spraying it down with motor oil will stop them from taking the first bite, but that sounds messy

The damn carpenter bees love the wood on the gable ends of my shed. I pump Drione powder in all of their holes and up under the gaps where the boards overlap.

They also attack all the cedar on my front porch.

Recently closed on a new to us place 5 min from the main farm and it has a 32x28, pit, insulated with a small attic space in the peak. With the house being small and both of us working from home this will eventually become my office and redneck chateau. Going to replace the old wooden garage doors that are rough and seal them better, paint, epoxy the floor, replace all the sketchy daisy chained lighting and a heat source of some kind tbd. Next spring I’ll do a mini split before it gets hot again.
