So anyone have a center section and Turbine wheel with Shaft for sale?

Believe it or not it wasn't that bad. It wasn't great but not that bad.My wife noticed more than me. She said it didn't have enough ass when she tried to take off

The turbo on my 2000 7.3 probably needs to be looked into. When pulling a heavy load up a nice grade I get some whipple sounds out of it. Comes and goes but its anoying. I need more air to go with my bullydog chip and 5" exhaust so I might look into swapping the whole thing out for something bigger.

Pull your tube from your air filter intothe Turbo and check it. Should spin freely but not move in and out nor up and down. I also had a bad oil leak from it

Check the bolts that hold the two 1/2's of the turbo together, they are known for backin out.Have you priced a aftermarket turbo for a 7.3???

My 2002 did the same thing...turbo was fine. The issue is that the factory wheel is not efficient enough when trying to move more air than the factory setup pushed. Search "Turbo Surge" and "Wicked Wheel" on any of the Powerstroke Forums. Fix it ASAP because the surge is hell on the turbo.

Lucas at L&N here in Blowing Rock replaced mine with a wicked wheel, checked the turbo and installed the newer style bellowed up-pipes. Been towing and driving for around 10k miles now and no more surge issues.

To the OP...I would go ahead and put that Wicked Wheel in while the turbo is out and apart. Its only $89-109 for the part. Saves a lot of effort and headache down the road.

My surge went away once I got the turbo bolted back together tight.

Not only power, you will probably notice much less smoke with this fixed.

The wicked wheel does wonders for reducing the turbo bark on these trucks.
