Anyone here do cnc engraving/laser etching/whatever or know anyone that does? Have a tube that needs some words and numbers put on it lengthwise (.125-.25" tall letters) and can't find anyone local to do it.

I do Laser etching mainly nick-nak stuff table is only 12x12x2 being biggest piece I can do. but with lasering you need someone with a rotary table to do tubes, bottles ext. How big is the piece ? IIRC there's someone in Concord,NC I'll see if I can dig up his info.

~9" long x 1.5" od. However it's done, it has to be to a depth of at least .003". Fwiw, it's a suppressor tube I'm building on an atf form 1. I just need name, city/zip, caliber, serial #. It's only .65 wall tube, so stamping is out.
I can do everything else myself, I just can't find anywhere to do this without shipping it ( a registered nfa item...).

I'd offer to do it for ya, but we're swamped at work. It would have to be a simple projection and not true to the contour as we don't have a rotating 4th axis.

I believe you left out a zero. did you mean .065 wall tubing?

No, you are correct sir... .065. I would like to do it in three lines, but two would work as well. Should most people with a decent cnc mill be able to do this? It's not like an image or anything, just text...

If it were a flat piece of stock yes, being that it is round you would need a 4th axis machine. You might have better luck with this if you ask around on CSF.

We have the capabilities at work, but I know we won't even touch gun parts. Too much liability involved. I'm afraid that's an issue you're going to run into.

And whereas I say we have the capabilities, I'm not saying we could. Setting this up would be pretty difficult. It really doesn't make a difference if it's text or image, you still have to convert everything into coordinates to generate a tool path.
