My wife's 6u softball team is going to state in Lexington NC:4000 W old us hwy 64 is the address. We're not familiar with the area and was hoping someone in that area might have a few suggestions. We need somewhere with a pool and within 20 minutes of where we're playing. Thanks.

Looks like you are playing at Reeds Ballpark. Closest hotel is the Holiday Inn Express over by Childress Vineyards. I've never stayed there, but I believe they have a pool. Let me know if you need any other advice. While in town, hit one of the BBQ places. I'll suggest Lexington Barbecue which is moderately close by. They are locally called the "Honey Monk".

IMHO the BBQ down that way sucks ass. About 15 years ago I was working at Fort Bragg and traveled thru Lexington every week. A coworker said how good the BBQ was at Lexington BBQ so we run through the drive thru and picked up a couple BBQ sandwiches. So I took my first bite while still in the parking lot and I immediately threw it out the window into the parking lot. I have eaten BBQ around the world and it rates in the top 3 worst of all time. Just my .02

Returning from Scott Field's funeral, the Mize brothers & myself stopped at Lexington BBQ. Twas their idea, as they thought it was the Best. It was ok, but didn't Impress me. Seemed just typical everyday BBQ, like anywhere else.

Most of the hotels in Lexington are on the other side of town from Reeds. They are mostly located off I85 on exit 91. Country Hearth Inn, Days Inn and Quality Inn are ones I'd look at. Since you are playing on the Reeds side of town, Mocksville might be worth looking at as well. Either way you will be driving about 20 minutes. Exit 91 off I85 has a selection of restaurants at it as well, but I'll warn you, wait staff in Lexington leave much to be desired. Most are only trained in how to pour tea and sling hushpuppies, so don't expect great service. There is Applebees, Coaches, a couple decent Mexican joints (Don Juans and La Carretta), and a handful of BBQ joints. We finally got a Chick -Fil- A at the same exit.

I work in that area and anytime we have someone come in from out of town they stay in Salisbury. The motel at Childress Vinyards is about the nicest one in Lexington and stays full because of it.
