I have owned a 04 mercury for about a year now and have had it in the shop for trans problems 7 times now. First 4 at Crecent Ford in High Point and they said everytime that it was normal the way the trans shifted because it was awd. I dont care if it is awd or not it should not snap your neck when it shifts from 1st to 2nd. So, then took it to Liberty Lincolin Merc in Winston droped it off and had a call in a hour saying that parts were ordered and would have it back asap. They put me in a rental and said that it was covered for 5 days and they would try to have the suv fixed in that time. Well it was fixed in 5 days so return the rental pay my 100 deductible and was on the road. I thought it was fixed this time but was wrong 2 weeks later on the way to the beach starts blinking check trans well has no dip stick so what do you check. I took it back in when I got home and they call and say that there is mud in a conector and will cost 85 to clean it out and that should fix the problem. Well I asked them how mud is in a conector on a suv that has never left the road but ok fix it and lets roll on. Well all was good for another 2 weeks and then it starts flashing trans over heating it was 70 or so outside and was towing nothing. So my wife took it back in they say there going to put her in a rental and it will be covered and they will see whats gong on. THe next day get a call that it is ready that they cant find anything wrong with it but had a code for overheating. So she went and turned in the rental in and went to get her car they tell her she owes 145 and she cant have the car till it is payed. The car is under factory powertrain warranty and they charged her 85 for diag time even though they found nothing wrong with it and 60 for 2 days rental. I called and talked to the president of the company and he said his techs have to get paid and that warranty wont pay them if they dont find anything wrong. I work in a shop and if we dont find anything wrong we dont get paid that easy. Why should a tech get paid if he cant find anything wrong when there are codes in the system and the mpg have gone from 15 to 9 something is wrong. Well after I went through this with him he says that we are not getting anywhere and hangs up on me. I just am at a loss here I pay the 100 the first time then enterprize charged me for the rental not them so and out another 125 that I could get no help with then 85 the 2nd and now 145 the third time and still have a messed up car that is out of warranty next month. I just dont know what to do it cant be right for someone to charge diag time for a comeback and at that on a warranty repair. I need help here anyone have any numbers for ford reps etc got to get someone to answer some questions here and am not going to just drop this.

You have a few issues here, first off you need to go back to them about Enterprise charging teh wrong person. That is seperate from everything.

Aside form that, go overt heier head and call the mercury regional office. You don't really have a case or any real solid compaint against Cresent asid efrom being lousy techs, but Liberty is clearly in the wrong.

I tryed to get the rental fixed but have wrote that off...

I just want the car fixed and think I should get my money back from liberty.

Cresent was great to buy from but would not take my mower for them to work on lol!

my trade it tomorrow for a Kia waiting on the numbers. Will be better off with the wife in something that gets better mpg and dont have to worry about someone not fixing it because I work on them lol

800-392-3673 Is the Ford/Mercury customer support number, give them a call and see where they can get you with it. Having the district service rep on thier ass will normally help get some things straight.

Also, as a former KIA parts/service employee, I find it hard to belive anybody would jump out of anything because of trans problems and into a KIA. That was the only dealer I've ever worked for that kept reman transmissions in stock for quick replacements.

You wouldn't believe the ordeal I went with on the tran on my mini cooper. Even under warranty they still charged me over $1500 and took two months and it's not right.

Similar story about tech getting paid. I told them if the tech can't do the job they shouldn't get paid.

Until you see how many bulbs the Kia will go through in a year! Every Kia owner I spoke to can't get bulbs to live longer than 6 months... but you probably already know that deal! :flipoff2:

When did you work for them? They have come along way in the last few years.

Ifyou put the long life bulbs in them they last forever thats the trick that we have found to work

X2 IMHO. Not employeed now or ever with Kia, but have seen quite a few working where I do....

Yes, they have come quite far from the days of backing a sportage off the car hauler and not making a lap around the lot before the check engine light is on, but I was last working in KIA about a year ago. We also carried Ford, BMW, GM (most all of them) and Mitsubishi. After 7 years with those brands I am still willing to buy Ford and BMW products. My other issue with KIA is the purely retarded parts prices. I :poop: you not, BMW parts are no more expensive with the exception of engines and transmissions. Seems like a bad deal from my point of view, but that's just my $.02...

The oem bulbs are Sylvania long life bulbs...

But on a more focused not about the original situation, call Ford customer relations first, that way they can get it handled before the vehicle is out of your hands if there is any monetary refund to be had. They will offer pretty much nothing if you've traded out of the Ford family of cars.

you should keep the moutaineer and do a front and rear solid axle swap on 38's. and if they still dont fit "there's nothing a sawsall cant fix". a post from your fellow kia emploee

1) My brother works for the Lincoln/Mercury Dealer in downtown Greensboro, the name escapes me, he is a fairly new employee, but I doubt they would shaft you like that, seem to be good folks all around. I say call Regional Mercury and inform them of whats going on. Doesn't matter what the situation is, you shouldn't have to pay for work when your vehicle is under warranty if its anything related to the warranty.

2) My buddy has a 2005 Kia, 4th gear synchro went out, he took it in for warranty, was told he caused the error and it wouldnt be covered under warranty, and that you were not supposed to downshift a vehicle, that it puts extra wear and tear on the transmission, so I gotta agree that Kia trans might be bs, and that they will jerk you around on warranty.

Well it happend today trans went out left my wife and 2 kids stuck in Winston on the side of 150. Liberty Lincoln Mercury has gone under the doors are shut all cars gone and name is off the building so nothing I can do now about them. So its getting towed to Parkway Ford just trying to find out now if Im going to get charged again for the deductible or not the lady on the phone for ford said thats up to the dealer so who knows whats going to happen now.

if you care to get to charlotte, keith hawthorne ford l/m is a good place to deal with. talk to Michael Zimmerman tell him butterhead sent ya. sounds crazy but he will know

:buzzer: My headlights last 3-4 months tops regardless of LL. The rest of the bulbs do fine on LL.

if you get them from the dealer they have a 12 12 warrenty on them so you would never pay again if they dont last more then 4 months
