Lift For 40's?

I know his "4x4cross" site on Facebook is still posting stuff. He sort of ran off with that name after the Uwharrie thing(s).

Man its hard to believe it been a decade now.

The NC4x4 crowd isn’t really his core target market and he knows that. As a promoter, he’s going to spend his time posting where his target rich customers hang out, and NC4x4 definetly isn’t it.

Dang, I remember this thread, and many others like it that were started by him. I remember one that he started where he was going to plate the frame on his 1/2 ton Z71 to turn it into a 3/4 or 1 ton tow rig. Some of his old threads were close to the modern day 'fuller' material. Whatever happened to that guy? The last time I saw him was announcing at an ECORS race at DPG.

If you were to plate it, I doubt it would be the same strength as a 3/4 ton frame? (I don’t know metal lol) but you could make it safer for over loading right? As long as you also upgrade the frame suspension brackets, the axles and suspension to heavier duty stuff?

He's still around Mooresville.
Last time we talked, may e 6 months ago, he was still making a living full time promoting events. Mainly in the mud big and diesel pulling world.

Ricky is a genuine good dude.

Yep.
And a damn good friend of mine.

I don't recall ever seeing this thread before, but I remember going to DPG with Ricky and a few friends one weekend. We were towing his "Z71" stretched Jeep with the GM drivetrain, and the only straight sheetmetal was the hood. Ricky had some carb problems with the rig that day and was under the hood quite a bit. At the end of the day he loaded the bitch on the trailer, strapped it down, and off we went. We weren't but 5 minutes up the road toward Raleigh and we all hear this loud [THWACK] sound...we all look at each other, and then turn around to see the hood up, and wrapped around the front of the roll cage. He says "Damn!, there goes that nice straight hood".
We were all laughing so hard we were in tears, cause it wasn't EVER gonna win any beauty awards.
