lift for a cj5

My 7 has a 4" rough country lift, was on it when I bought it. I think you have to extend the brake lines, may have to reposition axle vents. Your drive shaft angles are going to be steeper on your 5 than on my 7. I have a t-case drop on mine to help with the angle.

the 4" lift on my CJ-7 included wedges built into the rear leaf packs. I didnt lower my t-case, but as said above, the shorter CJ-5 might need it.

I used extended brake lines.

I never tried it without a dropped pitman arm, I just went ahead and got one from the start.

shocks, duh.

You might end up needing new hardware, depending on the removal method of your old springs. Even though I was able to remove the nuts from the main-eye spring bolts, the bolts were rusted inside the sleeves of the spring bushing; cutoff wheel was used.

I have bad luck removing U-bolts in re-usable condition. "They" say you should only re-use them once anyways, due to stretching. Plan on using new ones, save any you successfully remove as spares.

Might be a good time to replace the shackles and shackle bushings.

I dont remember changing the axle vents.

and of course tires depending on what size you have now. My experience with my 7 is 31s look tiny under 4" lift, 33s work right, 35s require some trimming.
