Yesterday my brother and i put on autozone lift shackles on his YJ. they cost a grand total of 26 bucks, and took about 2 hours to install. all in all, he got about 3" front, 4" rear with the front set slightly lower to even it out. now the driver side sits about 1/2-1" lower. would that be because of the trac bar? but yea, if yall want a cheap way to get a good bit of lift, go to autozone. they cost $13 each and have 3 holes for different lift heights. just thought i would let yall know.

Please take that junk off, to begin with, They are not thick enough, have no cross bracing and screw up your caster. Not a good way to lift your jeep, cheap yes, safe and reliable, no

They also reduce your approach and departure angle. The shackles may have been 3-4" longer but the amount of lift realized is about 1/2 that.

Is the jeep being built for street or play? I have a set on my 89 Toyota. My brother installed them before I bought the truck. They do reduce your approach and there is a possiblity of failure if you don't brace them. If this vehicle is for play I would recommend having someone weld a support in between them. Mine have been on for atleast two years with no problems but I'm going to be switching them out. I've seen many people use them for rockclimbing but they are not the kind you buy at Advanced Auto. Your problem probably comes from the trac bar as well but I wouldn't take it loose. I would modify the trac bar ie make it a little longer. You risk breaking the mount on the frame or axle rightnow. If you take it loose you can break the stearing arm or may cause axle roll.

That is the biggest load of horse shit I have ever heard. How the hell is he going to break a steering arm by taking off his trackbar? Its leaf sprung, take your track bar of and throw it away. A trac bar on a wrangler is worthless

YJ wrangler you mean. Hopefully nobody will read your post and trash their trackbar on a TJ.

When I had a lifted YJ I ditched the rear and kept the front with an extended bracket. It made wide sweeping turns at highway speeds much nicer. It was easy to remove when I hit the trails.
