Found a somewhat low mileage 2008 LMM. Never owned a duramax. I’ve had Fords and Dodges. I haven’t met the guy yet and I have no idea if it’s been deleted, tuned, or if it has any issues. From what I’ve read it’s pretty much an LBZ choked up with emissions. Anything I should look for in particular? Should I run and avoid the year model? I get better info and owner experiences from NC4x4 vs rummaging through other forums. I appreciate your input!

LMMs are solid trucks...but almost like a 2nd Gen (or really...ANY) Dodge. The drivetrain is awesome, but the interior sucks! The door locks, door panels, dash...all that crap rattles and wears out, the dashes crack, the buttons wear out on the steering wheel and radio. The headlights LOVE to yellow and fog up, but they're kinda huge and that's to be expected. There are some good sand/coating options to remedy that.

The engines and transmissions are solid. In fact, 01-10 HDs used the same brakes, suspension, frames. Parts are plentiful, etc. They still used a CP3, so the fuel systems are reliable. Uses a different tranfer case than 01-07 classic, but they work just fine. Not exactly the best looking front ends, well, not the Chevy variants anyway, but I'd rock one if I got a steal on it. They ARE pretty comfortable overall.

If it isn't deleted or tuned, that's pretty simple to do and they respond well.

If I EVER get another truck, I want a 15 or 16 LML.

Thanks man. I appreciate ya.

No problem! If it's in good shape and the price is right, I wouldn't be scared!

I have two LMM trucks with almost a million miles between the two of them. Never had any major issues out of either truck until recently which is a head gasket on the truck with over 500k. The stock torque converter's lockup clutch will eventually slip if you lug it hard with a decent tune.
