Ok, Wife's dad wants to visit for Christmas. Wants to 'take us somewhere nice' for a few days and have Christmas dinner etc. Basically he's been a poopoo dad for... well.. ever, and is trying to make amends as hes gotten older...

I've found a few nice full on resort places with Christmas packages which look great but have a matching price tag..

He's retired and has some $$ so he's not looking for hotel 6 stuff just a few more options other than places that have 4 golf courses. I'm thinking somewhere ~3hr radius from Raleigh.

He mentioned Theme parks, Resorts, Lodges etc..
I generally avoid those places so I'm not sure whats around.

I think the only requirement is that they serve Christmas dinner or do nice buffet thing. Could be nice bed breakfast with some some amenities, (hot tub/pool etc.) as long as they are doing dinner and its near other things to do.

Any ideas ?

Check out Great Wolf Lodge in Concord. We've stayed there twice. Lots of fun. Really cool indoor water park. Only about 1 mile from Lowes Motor Speedway.

Grove park inn Asheville NC, Primland in meadows of Dan Va, If you want to get really nice and pricey The Greenbrier in White Sulfur Springs West Va, or The Homestead in Hot Springs VA. All are really nice and I am speaking from experince.

I was just going to say the Homestead in VA. Really nice place. Much nicer than Grove Park Inn, IMO
agreed, though the grove park has a much wider range of ammenities.

We booked corproate romms once and I got some lux suite that was :huggy:..but I have also stayed in some hampton inn level rooms for 2x the cost.
