So i managed to lock myself out of my wrangler, had a locksmith come, he tried all his tools, got two of em stuck, gave me a card to call em when I get it unlocked.... Had a key made a Jeep... Didnt work. Call and read back the VIN... it was right... Went to the fire station next door. When through the floor plugs with a 3' rod. We couldnt get any leverage over the lock. So im stuck. So I have the full doors and hardtop, the back gate is locked and everything I need is inside the vehicle.... Any ideas? :shaking:

Dang.... what about taking the hinge off the door and reaching in and unlocking it? think it will bust up the latch/locking mech?

Don't bust the hard top glass! Shit is stupit expensive and hard to find. Especially if you have the green or gold tinted glass. The vent windows are pretty easy to have replaced.

Can you pop out the glass? buddy of mine took a cloths hanger, got under the seal of the rubber and was able to pull it apart.. it worked on the back side of a xj because the glass was straight

Using a wood or plastic wedge pry the top of the door frame open enough to get a coat hanger in . If you can hook 2 together try and hook your keys and pull them out the opening . Wish you were near me I have never found a car I could not get in .

i wish i was near you too junkman! Apparently i didnt know it was this difficult to get into a wrangler especially! And I have my new safari top in the back as well I was going to put on this weekend......... lame i know.

The locksmith got his tools stuck in the door? I'd like to think that you could get a wedge in between the door and the glass and then hook the rod inside the door...

Good luck getting your keys. Call me if you need a hand.

Is the sliding glass in the back latched?? is there any way you could pry it open without breaking it?? or is it possible to take the hinges on the tailgate off and climb in that way??

I would think you could un-bolt the hinges from the body and swing the door open like a suicide door. likely to cause damage to the latch though. Or pry the top of the door like said before. Those hard doors are so easy to get the top to pry away.

pop out a drain plug in the floor under the mat and work the mat away.. Possibly pull it to the hole and snip the key ring and pull the key through..... or possibly hand it off to a 2nd hook above it grab it from the floor...

At first I was reading thinking.... uhhhh unzipper the back window....

I guess after you do get in you will get a "hide-a-key" under your rig somewhere eh. I can't believe the locksmith couldn't get you in! I hope he didn't charge you. I haven't found a car or truck yet that I can't get in with just a slim or a few select rods. Good luck.

But don't forget an extra key to put in the hide a key box :D
I had a guy come in the store, buy one of those boxes, came back a week later and told us how he forgot to get a key while he was there the first time and got locked out again

Well i got in it! Tried to get the door off, the bolt stripped (oh well). Took the back hatch off and yanked the hardtop window open. I tried the floor board thing through the drain holes, couldnt get to the key and couldnt get enough leverage to push the lock.

Well my toughy locks come soon so I can put on the soft crap and not worry about it. thanks yall

I would suggest never locking the doors with the soft top. My friend had someone cut the windows in her soft top instead of just unzipping the window to steal the radio. sucked to be her!

I tried that and the idiots still cut the soft top before checking to see that both doors were unlocked!! :shaking:

And then they didn't even steal anything just went through the whole jeep.

Note....

1. Have a couple of spares made.
2. Make sure they work.
3. Keep one at home for situations like this.
4. Keep one with someone you trust that lives closeby (house key too).
5. The hide a key idea is OK. Just keep it in a tough to see spot.
6. Use the spare for a while here and there to make sure they wear the same. That way they will actually work when you need them to.

I have bent the end of my CB antenna (its a whip) a little so I have a little hook on the end. 99% of the time my windows are at least cracked so I have been able to fish the keys out everytime I have tried, even pulled them from the ignition too.

I have been there before as well, thats why i didnt get any soft stuff this time! They didnt steal from me either, just broke stuff and rummaged!

I had a spare made at the Jeep place yesterday and had my friend come bring it to me. It didnt work. So can I get a duplicate made with the only key I have that works? I dont understand why the one I had made doesnt work, its for my VIN number and the one key I have works in the ignition and the door locks??
