I am wanting to lock up my Cherokee and i already know i want a powertrax no slip locker for my 8.25 but i was unsure if i wont a ox select-able or a powertrax no slip for the front dana 30 to.

I am wanting a dd and weekend wheeler and wonted to see if any of you Cherokee guys have had any experience with either locker or your experience with any other brand locker up front, plus i can get both the front and back locker powertrax and it would still be cheaper than the one ox dana 30 locker.

I have a spartan in my 30. It drives fine on the street. And has held up to some pretty bad beatings. And that's with 36 TSL's

But what i mean is i am wanting to know is if i had a spartan up front would it might try to lock up mid turn and in the rain i feel like than could get bad

The Spartans have a good price,i can get a spartan locker for front and back for $698 and powertrax is $956 so that's a good $258 i would save

only if its in 4wd and you're on the gas. Otherwise it will ratchet and be like an open carrier. I have a lockrite in my DD XJ.

I've never owned a Spartan, but I think they are the same basic design principle as LR. Spartan's are relatively new to the market (~4yrs maybe), LRs have been around for many years.

Ive had Spartans, lock-rites and aussie's. All perform about the same. Currently running a Spartan in the front on my YJ on 39.5's with no issues.

I'm running a spartan with no issues.

I run lockrites F/R in Pinky xj. No problems.
And the wife breaks axle shafts, a lot of axle shafts.
But she drives like me. Hammer down.

It's been said that the Aussie is the quietest of the Lunchbox lockers, don't know if that's true or not. Maybe others here that have run both can answer that. But, you can run a heavier wieght gear oil to make them a little quieter. You will get a few looks at the gas station from people that think your stuff is fallin apart .

I have a aussie in the front of my cherokee and I've heard it maybe 2 times unlocking and both of those times was with the wheel turned to full lock in a parking lot

I have an aussie locked 30, can't tell it's there on the street and pretty much stays locked when in 4

I have a spartan up front and open in the rear for my xj. I wanted mine to have good road manner and it does. I have an ax-15 or i'd but a lunchbox in the rear. Think I'll just save up for a selectable. Can't imagine what a lunchbox in the rear of the manual on the ice would have been like today but 2wd open i got around wherever i wanted. The Spartan is almost non-existant in 2wd but pulls like hell on steering in 4wd so you can feel it working.

I run a powertrax no-slip in the front of my TJ (Dana 30). I also run the Lucas gear oil. You never knows its there in 2wd. Works great in 4wd. No ratcheting sounds just click or two in turns. And it unlocks or has every time. I have wheeled with plenty of Aussies. No-slip is much quieter. Like any diff work pay attention to detail during the install.
